Thanks so much for posting the blog for your non-Facebook followers! That sunset photo is beautiful. I've sent the link out to various family members. Glad to hear you're meeting some nice fellow-travelers.
Valcano Did you take pics of the inside of the valcanoe, or was it to steamy? WOuld love to see them. My computer has been down for over a month, i finally got a new laptop. Its always nice to see what new adventure you are having. Thanks for the updates.
Have a good thanksgiving, be safe!
Later,
David.
This is a disconcerting blog title for The Mom!! Glad you
e okay. Hows the stomach situation? I REALLY hope its improving rapidly.
That dvd we watched before you left showed some footage of these funerals and the animal sacrifices. Can believe you saw it in person!
Hey Cuz, great to hear from you! Well Im strapped into my seat and ready to keep up with your current adventure! Have a great time and be safe bro! I will be coming to look for you if you turn up missing, ha j/k... i know you will be fine. Soak it up and i hope to see you some day soon after all these years! Tell your family hi for me.
Take Care,
your cousin David.
the blog is back! so fun to be able to hear about the details of your travels! The volcanoe hike sounds wild and hot; are the road conditions way worse than Costa Rica? Sounds like you've already met some really interesting people-- that's great!
Take care!!!
Wonderful writing! Steve, Your aunt Wendy (my co-worker and friend) and I are living this trip through you ... keep up the awesome writing ... and be careful!
Hey Steve - I hope you're having as much fun as you seem to be. Take lots of critter photos so I can see them when you get back. I'll bet they have skates there (a type of ray) - if so, be careful. They lay on the sand underwater and many species have poisonous spines on their backs and if you step on one you can be in a world of hurt. I'm enjoying your exploits vicariously. Remember, don't do anything that you wouldn't do if your mother was watching :)
Missing you! Glad to hear you're back on dry land, more or less. The photos were amazing-- I showed them to Tamara and she said you should submit the "spider in its web" to some sort of contest. I personally found the drooling one fascinating. Make sure you don't get dehydrated!! We've been tracking your travels on the map that Mary gave us months ago. Keep the blogs coming, and take good care of my boy! Love, Mom
another travelblogger Hi there Steve, I'm Andrea and my roommate and I are planning a trip to Thailand. Your trip sounds wonderful. I just got back from Europe and climbed to the tops of all the duomos; I guess I'll have to work my way up to the jungle steps.
Keep writing,
bloggers/andreamagee
Dang Steve what an adventure, I remember you talking about an out of the country trip, but i never thought it would be like this. Amazing! I have been following your blogs and it feels like Im out there too. You are a great writer, and photographer. Too bad you didnt bring a video camera. Or did you??!! Maybe one day if you become a big travel writer, maybe i could come along and shoot a documentry of your travels! lol Well enjoy your jungle freedom and keep safe.
See Ya!
Self-Preservation Instinct Lacking You might want to consider your parents' mental and physical health, and not mention the totally insane things that you do, like drive and paddle directly into storms. Your lack of a self-preservation instinct is scaring them (and the rest of us old farts) half to death.
You know there was a tsunami in that part of the world last week; if you see any 100 foot waves heading your way, please paddle away from them, rather than into them. Or at least don't tell us if you don't.
No plans? I love that you don't have any plans. You are diong whatever you want to, when you want to. That's a great way to really see the country. I bet reading this drives your uncle Ron "CRAZY"!!! Keep it up!
gecko 'gurgitation Hey Steve - yes, geckos do regurgitate, especially if their "eyes are bigger than their stomach" and they swallow something too large. Then there's the fact that a lot of insects have a variety of defenses to make them unpalatable - bad taste, toxins, irritating projections etc that might cause the gecko to throw it up. What species of gecko is it? Do they "bark", sorta like a dog? I just got back from a 2 day visit with your folks and Joanna - had a good time and caught some fish. Be careful.
On a 50-day trip in Thailand and Laos. What am I even supposed to put in this box? It's not telling me. It's just a box that apparantly needs some words. Fine. I'm 5'9, I think 1/4 Swedish, 21 years old, took two weeks of Judo in 6th grade, watch out.... full info
