A very well taken photo, photografer 9I spell so well at 4:30 in the morning. Now would;nt you just love to be a squirrel? Do nothing all day but collect nuts and scare cars off the road. Its like like they are tempting you to hit them. My wife hit a deer in North MASSACHUSETTS and now there is a deer running around the woods with Dodge marked on its side.I know that has nothing to do with the picture but I thought it was a funny story.OOO I did'nt mean to cap lock Massachusettes. It has no particular meaning to me.
Hot Spring, good food and family Hello Nick,
it seems like your family become more and more Taiwanese. You are enjoying the best parts about Taiwan. I miss the good food and hot spring in Germany.
Greetings Markus
Your trip! Looks like a wonderful place. I would be interested in getting more info about the airfares and a few other things. Have you ever been to Bohol Island? Right off the island is another island called Panglao. It is a good spot and very reasonable. While there you can visit the Chocolate Hills, see the smallest marsupial and go out and watch dolphins feeding in a deep trench about 1/2 hour off the island. You should give it a try on one of your next adventures.
re_ Sounds awesome! I will consider it next time! For Eli Nido, there are various airlines into Puerto Pricesa for super cheap, then a 5-8 hours bus or van ride. You can also fly direct to El Nido three times a week on Southeast Asian Airlines, but it is comparatively very expensive.
Great blog! We will go to the Philippines in November/December and this sounds like an interesting spot. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. What was the name of the hotel with the pool? Looks like a nice pool.
re__ We stayed at Rosanna's Cottages for most of the trip, which looked like pretty much the best huts in all of El Nido, and totally ocean front. The fancier place was called El Nido Garden Resort. I tried really hard to make a reservation there before the trip, but they never responded to e-mails, and the front desk wasn't able to take reservations for some reason. It was a great place for a splurge though!
As I was browsing the site, I came across your weblog. Since I am an Iranian (Esfahanian!) myself, it is interesting for me to read the other people views about my country especially at the time which there is not much tourist around and there are negative news about Iran. It seems that you had a unique experience in Iran. I should confess that although I am an Iranian, I never had your experiences (living with a traditional, low income family or attending a wedding like this!). It is the best way to understand the new culture. I hope one day we become part of the global village with fast internet connection and no filtering and no restrictions! All the best.
Great I have read many of your blogs, and I like them very much. Especially this one is very fascinating and impressive. I will def. continue reading your blogs. All the best to you

re_shenzhen rent Sorry, it has been over three years since I lived there; I don't even remember! Prices have probably changed since then too. I would recommend you take a look at shenzhenparty.com
accommodation enjoyed reading your blog. I myself intend to move to shenzhen soon, and I was just wondering what rent should I be expecting for a one bedroom apartment (more like your apartment).
I would probably like to live in longgang district.
any info would be much appreciated.
About BC Your blog post was a great reminder on how this trip back home for a mere 8 months was lacking in something. I travelled from Edmonton to Toronto and then to Sasquatch with a beautiful road trip to the Gorge near Seattle. From there a greyhound bus into Vancouver and Victoria....we hopped on a flight home right over the rockies. After reading this I realized that I missed my yearly drive from Edmonton to Vancouver!!! Thank you for reminding me what I need to do when I return after my adventures in the UK.
A nice tribute to your grandparents I guess putting a description (Chicken) avoids confusion about which grandparents are being referred to. It must be a Lewin thing, as my grandkids call me "Grumpy Grandpa".
That is a nice thing you did here, Nick.
Comment by Grandma and Grandpa Kembel (aka Chicken G & G) Thank you for the dedication given to your Grampa on his 80th B-Day. That was nice of you. Family gatherings are great. We read it with moist eyes because the memories of your childhood tugged at our heart strings also. Your pictures are always great and your stories are so readable. Grandparents love their grandkids and ours are particulary talented and loveable!! Keep on writing, Nicholas, it is rewarding and enjoyable for all of us. LOve from Gramma and Grampa.
I've been travel blogging for over a decade (my first TravelBlog post was in 2008!) Since then, I've lived in Taiwan for over 10 years, wrote a book about it, and I manage two successful websites about traveling in Taiwan. I'm living back home in Canada with my wife and kids now, but we still spend part of every year in Taiwan.... full info
