As the title says, I'm rather excited! 6 days, and counting, until I'm out of Canberra again. Only for a scant 3 weeks this time, unfortunately, but it's still possible to fit a good chunk of itchy-feet-busting into that space of time! In 6 days, I will be en-route to Tokyo, Japan, with a short stopover in Beijing on the way, and a slightly longer one on the way back. There will be a group of intrepid travellers this time, which should be a rather interesting phenomena for me. The last time I travelled with anyone, well, I ended up splitting with her after 3 weeks, and we didn't speak again until I got home 3 months later. I guess I should mention that I'm doing this blog a little strangely - I got home from my trip 6 months ago, and I never got around to actually posting the travel journal I was writing during that. I'm heading to Japan at the end of the year and wanted to be able to blog that, so I thought I might as well re-write, polish and post my writings from my Gap Year while I was at it. So, with that little note, as they say, on with the story! It's always strange to think that you won't be seeing the place that you call home for a good 6 months. My home is Canberra, the capital of Australia (no matter what people from other countries may think - believe me, I live here). It may seem boring to a lot of people, heck, sometimes it seems boring to me. Especially when I think about where I'm going to be going in the next six months. The plan is to hit as many countries in Europe as we can in 6 weeks, and then repeat this exercise in Asia for another 8 - until that time, the beginning of September, I'm going to be visiting the family I haven't seen for 12 years, in England.
