I'm jealous Mike.
You are making me want to abandon my family and go travelling again. If only my kids could trek through the mountains without complaining about the wind and cold (and that they're tired and hungry) ... when they're older I'll talk them into it. Enjoy the trip, sounds like a lot of fun.
Seek help Cliffy,
I think you have a fixation or phobia of wind. Your blog seems replete with mentions of it, and often you seem quite perturbed by it. I think you should seek some professional expertise on this subject. Otherwise the trip sounds good! May the wind always be at your back, and try to stay out of jail.

you ain't missing a thing super - just like being there.
consider yourself lucky you have avoided the north american xmas season driven by commercial interests and estrogen. i'm hunkering down right now and ejoying the quiet in the office until i have to deal w/ all that 'stuff' for the next few days.
happy holidays and all that other stuff. i'll bet new year's down there will be a blast if you are anywhere urban.
cheers,

Merry Christmas Hey Mike,
Excellent ranger report! I got a really good sense of the walk and your adventure in this stage. Thanks especially for the geology.
Have a great Christmas on the trail. It will be one to remember, I'm sure. Heather and I will be up at the Bend on Christmas day, so if you happen to call, I'm sure I'll talk to you. If not, have a good one!

Size issues But does the urinal really need to be any bigger? It should be fine unless one has:
a) really bad aim
b) inner ear disorder
c) consumed several bottles of Chilean wine.
m.
big hands, good aim? hmmm, you've lowered your interests down to my standards. ;-p
either that or it sounds like they need good cable tv.
nice looking sink, indeed. the tap is neat loking, as well. any shots of the cabinet hardware? wood counter is a nice touch. don't tell my wife we ever had this conversation.
won't say anything about the massages - you can only be massaged so many times in a day....
Drive by barking Thanks for the updates Mike; it's almost like I'm there. We got a whiff of your Patagonian wind here in Ontario yesterday -- at least Grand Bend did. It was just howling through the trees.
And speaking of howling, it sounds as though Pto Natales is perfect territory for one of Ceilidh's favourite pasttimes -- drive-by barkings.
Have a good hike in tomorrow!
Cheers,
Mark
those dogs are strays! wash your hands and don't rub your eyes!
looks like alaska now.
very cool, regardless.
looks like you've dropped a few stones since the summer.

Chaos Cool photos, we never found the Evita tomb.
Missing a doozy of a storm in Ottawa 30+cms of snow and very windy. Saying we now have as much snow as we had all of last year.
I guess you have seen the wind Hey Mike,
Glad to hear the wind hasn't blown away your love of puns! (And glad to hear you're enjoying the trip.)
Good luck with the border crossing, and continue having a "blast". (Sheesh.)
Cheers,
M.
blast of 'chile' is what we're getting here - you need your crampons to get around downtown ottawa.
the buses here are crammed and slow and you wonder whether you will get home in time for supper...
more pics!
