We have had smooth travel overnight and today. DFW to Lima was a 7 hour flight. We had no issues with immigration or customs and made our connection in Lima for our flight to Cusco easily. The flight from Lima to Cusco was beautiful. A taxi from the airport to Palacio del Inka. Excellent service at check-in while we relaxed with mate de coca (herbal tea). Elevation in Cusco is 10, 825 feet. So far no signs of any altitude sickness. We will be taking it easy the rest of the day.... read more

The side trip to Fort Worth was just what we needed to keep us busy for the day. Our flight to Lima is not until 1020 tonight, so we had a full day to go out and explore Fort Worth. We ate lunch at the Cattlemen's Steak House. After lunch we wandered down the main road and found a Longhorn just waiting for us. It was Pedro's first time sitting on a cow. Maverick was very well behaved. Maverick (2100#) was a registered Longhorn according to his trainer. Next it was off to the pig/sheep subway. This is where the sheep and pigs were brought underneath the road where the cattle were being driven over the top back in the day of the cattle drives. Next it was a trip through the Stockyard Maze. Delay in Dallas

Our flight out of Chicago was delayed by 2 hours. "Had to make repairs on a scratched door" . We did not make our connection in Dallas. The next flight to Lima is tonight as there is only one flight per day to Lima. The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu has been now routed through Dallas.... read more
