crazy house Hi Deb,
Have been to the crazy house and almost needed a Dramamine so I wouldn't be nauseous. Beautiful scenery in Viet Nam. Too bad there is so much damage done by the war. Have you seen any of this yet?
Keep on trekking in good health.
Love, Dee
Crazy house does, indeed, warrant Dramamine.
Have seen some signs of physical devastation, deforestation, and far too many people with serious birth defects.
However, at this point in time, I think the major scars are emotional and psychological.
Beautiful photos!! Wow that house is totally unusual...looks like a wild mushroom on steroids...
Great photo of you guys and beautiful bird of paradise!!
Colleen
Rice Fields! Wow Deb and Gayle this is a gorgeous photo of the rice fields...I too would take a pass on some of the restaurants...so when in doubt choose your hotel with a nice glass of wine!!
Happy travels...
SE Asia (or is it?) Reminds me of Ko Phagnan, in Thailand, which was full of Germans and Israelis. You couldn't find a noddle to save your life, but lots of schnitzel and tons of falafel. It was BIZARRE.
Hope you find yourself back in Vietnam soon. :)
(P.S. I don't know if you've heard anything at all about the Olympics, but maybe don't mention hockey in front of any Russians...)
Hockey Yeah, did hear we won gold, twice over.
Actually did think of just this when I got pushed for the don't know how many th time at the tacky market by a woman wearing a Sochi t--shirt. Love you
Hoi An Loved Hoi An and ate wonderful meals with lots of seafood. Did not have clothing made, altho most in the group did. Roger has a shop in Hoi An but don't know the name of it. Keep on enjoying your adventure in good health.
Much love,
Dee
I saw Roger in Hanoi. His shop is there. He passes his regards to you. He looks exactly the same....amazing.
Tailor shop Roger recommended in Hoi An was expensive and fancy. We found a smaller one that suited us very well. They did an excellent job.
Did a cooking class here that was great fun.
Wonderful blogs I'm really enjoying reading your blogs. What a trip you are on. I want to see all the pics when you get back. P and I survived our long weekend in New York. The plays were wonderful and I wish we could get there more often to do more of the same. I walked my a.. off and now I think I need a total leg replacement. We had two lovely warm days but it was getting cold again when we left on Monday and it is getting cold again here in Ottawa. Keep well. See you soon.
That would be really neat!
However, the air quality in BH is much, much better than here...I am constantly sniffing and have a scratchy throat, and I'm almost positive it is the poor air quality.
Vietnam Sounds like you enjoyed most of Vietnam as much as I did....9 years ago. Food is amazing as well as the scenery. I loved Halong Bay. We spent a day cruising the islands and relishing in the beauty. Too bad the weather did not cooperate. Keep enjoying and stay in good health.
Would have loved sun in Halong. Oh well.
Great weather now, though Marg has a fierce cold and I am fighting off an ear infection....love hearing from you
Happy trails! Hi Aunt Deb,
So glad to hear that your trip is going well. It sounds like you are meeting some very interesting people! Mom's surgery went well and she's expecting to go home tomorrow or Tuesday. The physio people are very pleased with her progress.
Lots of love from all of us!
Alice
Happy travels chaquita girl!! Hi Deb and Gayle-love reading about your trip and your friends!Thinking of you both and wishing you lots of fun together. Colleen
Hi! Will pass along your greeting to Gayle.
Wish we could get you over here. Food is great and the people are all, short, so you would feel tall. A great feeling, my short friend, really, it is.
