Malaga a cordoba Got dropped off very early at the bus stop in Marbella to go to Malaga and change buses to head to Cordoba. All of these bus journeys seem very short - only 3 hours on the bus this time, nothing like the distances in south america, could hardly get settled but so useful having this laptop, watched a lot of family guy!... read more

Rhonda Saturday today and Anna and Linda have very kindly offered to take me to a town called Rhonda which is one of the white villages. These are villages which are painted completely white high up in the mountains. Although we were supposed to leave early due to the amount of walking the previous day we actually left rather late. A fantastically winding road took us up to Rhonda, a drive which lasted about 1 hour and we luckily found a free parking place rather quickly. After a walk down the main shopping street we ended up at the plaza de Toros which is a large and very famous Bull ring where the two main stars are two brothers who have continued the family tradition of bull fighting which goes back centuries. A little past this ... read more

After spwnding the day before going to the beach and spending the day around porto Banus, quite a purpose bulit place with lots of shops and huge boats in the marina with nice cars parked by them, decided to go to MArbella on the Thrursday. a lovely walk of around an hour 30 mins along the coast and the weather was baking hot, was able to bust out the shorts and t-shirt combo and this with a bit of a burn looked like a proper brit tourist on the costa del sol! Marbella is a really nice town with a brilliant old town centre combined, not at all like the images portrayed of it in the English media. Had a fantastic walk around the town and went off to have my first tapas of the holiday. ... read more

Cadiz a Gibraltar Started off the day nice and early in Cadiz and managed to get a bus directly to a place called la Linea which is right on the border of Spain and Gibraltar, due to ongoing problems between the spanish and the british governments there is no bus service across the border. There was only a very short walk to and across the border and the weather was fantastic so no worries. Despite being told there was nowhere to leave my big bag at the bus station, found some lockers which let you leave your big rucksack for 3 euros a day. result. Walked easily across the border with my passport cover only being glnaced at and walked toward the town centres. The ariport in gibraltar which runs across the access to the pennisular ... read more

Cadiz day 4 Woke up this morning due to a large number of people leaving the dorm room and the fact that my legs were poking out of the bottom of the duvet, not designed for tall people. could here the rain beating down on the shutters outside and thought myself lucky that i was in the place where they had more than 300 days sunshine a year. Went for brekkie and just bumming around until about 11 waiting for the rain to ease off which obviously never happened. Decided to go and check out the market and hit the supermarket as well, nice well stocked carrefour and the market was dead as apparently everything is on a monday, including all of the museums that i wanted to visit. typical. Managed to get absolutely soaked in ... read more

Day 4 Finished last night by drinking a copious amount of beer with the american eric stating in the same room as me. Beer was only 99c so 4 litres each cost 8 euro. Not too bad at all. Went to bed at 1 and were the first 2 to head to bed in our dorm of 8 people. Slowly adjusting the body clock to spanish time and speed. Woke up at about 9 and after brekkie, weather not so good today very cloudy and cold, headed off to the bus station and got rained on en route. Nice. Bus more expensive than was advertised anywhere but the journey was very pleasant, nice and warm about 32 hours to dump me in the middle of Cadiz at a rather delapidated bus station adjacent to the train ... read more

Day 2 and 3 in Seville spain Day 2 started off properly looking for a job. I say that although i woke up late i spent a good hour on google maps trying to locate all of the schools, some of which i found out when i was walking around simply did not exist. They seemed to be grouped in 3 main areas and for the most part were very nice about taking taking my CV. When i finally got the sales pitch down in Spanish it went a lot better, fail to prepare-prepare to fail sort of fits into mind here. Walked absolutely miles to all of the places all over the city and took in some good sights such as the river where i had my lunch in the sunshine and the plaza espana ... read more

Very early start today, had to get up at 4.30, set the alarm for 16.30 instead-luckily dad was on the case. flight from Gatwick to Seville is a lot longer than i thought it would be, passed over some spectacular scenery when the clouds decided to give up their secrets and soon on the ground. Organised and efficient airport, bus cost 2.40 for about a 20min ride into the centre, did not find the map in the lonley planet book too much help as it took me a while to orientate it with the better map thast i got off the tourism office at the airport. Hint always use the formal here not the informal. tiene. Walked about 1.5km to try to find the hostal. Just from that could tell that Seville was absolutely beautiful, trees ... read more
