Hey Thanks for the compliment. Pics from Philippines look beautiful! Been a bit behind on the blog recently. Need to think about writing on recent trips to Germany and England.

Ahh..your home country!
This was great. I really enjoyed reading and seeing the sights of your native land. Isn't it amazing what we all have right in our back yards and although most of us overlook what's in front of our faces, you took the time to explore and research and photograph beautifully some of the sights of your country. Thanks for sharing this insight into the land of the Philippines! I see your postings are generating a lot of comments so keep up the good work and take care of yourself. Look forward to your next journey....Jeff

Mexican's Managed the Philippines
Well. The Philippines contrary to general thinking, tends to not use Spanish in it's linguistic rapport. Why? This might help with that question. MEXICO managed the Philippines for SPAIN. They were brutal, unyielding managers that the Philippine people resented with a passion. There is no love lost for the Spanish Rule by Proxy and the Philippines being a great people simply bury this past. LOVE THE PHILIPPINES. Few places better.

I agree with the above comments, it has really made me hungry reading about the lucious variety of foods on offer. It seems like one of those special places where you would never be bored!

Ahhh...volcanos and food...
What a great posting! I have always been fascinated by volcanos ever since Mt. St. Helens in Washington State erupted in 1980 so I found this extremely interesting...I love geology and actually had a co-major in college because I was so in awe of the power of nature. And, your stories about the restaurants and food really made me hungry!! Great macro shots of the flowers...quite the photographer you are my friend...... See ya, Jeff

Love your European blog so much, as we are also planning our first Western Europe tour come August. I learned a lot from it, although Im sure we wont be able to afford the places you've stayed at. And I can't believe being a Catholic Filipino myself, I didn't inlcude Lourdes in our itenerary. Being the good Catholic that I was once before, hehehe, its now part of our itenerary. Thank you

Nice blog!
My family is going home for one month on April and I dont know where to bring them for a nice vacation outside Manila, which you seemed to have enjoyed very much in Bohol. If I have encountered your blog earlier I would have chosen to go to a Bohol adventure, so my Japanese wife can see more the beauty of our islands. But instead I made a hasty decision to go on a week vacation in Thailand and then back to Manila. Nice blog !

Thanks.
What I wouldn't give now for an empty mind and a re-energised body! You describe the Philippines as sociable and peaceful, it sounds beautiful. I really enjoyed this blog - especially the explanation about the volcano at the beginning, and your second photo. Thanks! J.

You bet I was 2 wks late!
Sorry Jon.......I should have blogged about Tagaytay much earlier. Am now convinced I should write more about my adventures within the country, so I can advise others how to spend their time here. You are so right about Manila, sad I know. But the trips to our provinces provide pleasant surprises, don't you think? You may be hassled by the touts, but overall, provincial folks are so much more kind and hospitable. Wishing you more adventures!

Ahhhhhh.....
I just got back from my first visti to the Philippines and visited Taal! I wish this came out about two weeks ago, so I could take more advantage of the area. I did Josephine's and the donkey trek, and, even a bit crazy at times, I loved it. Your words resonated with me and brought back the breeze on my shoulders for only a minute. Can't wait to go back! Excellent entry!

What a fabulous story!
This must have been an amazing journey! The cruise down the River Nile sounds fascinating and because of your clever story telling, I feel like I was there. I gasped when I read about the bombing of the German tour bus...how scary...you are very brave!! You know, you look like you have such a great time on your trips...you always look so lively and upbeat. Keep it up....Loved the pic of you "leaning" on the Sphinx!! GREAT SHOT!! See ya, Jeff

Brilliantly written and spiritually moving!
Oh my God, I just lived vicariously through your spiritual journey and could only imagine what it must have been like to actually experience all of the spirituality moving in you as you toured the sites. This is the best article I've read by you and I plan to hang onto this one for now, I too, must go to Israel to see all that you were so blessed to see! Take care my friend and keep sharing your emotional soujourns into realms beyond the here and now! Jeff

Ah the classics!!
How marvelous to visit to cities of Ancient Greece. All that history, culture, architecture or what remains of it and yes, the shopping which I see you enjoyed very much. Had to laugh out loud about the bracelet and your justification for the purchase. I too, "deserve this" and proceed to spend money as well. Don't we all love to shop. The Rossaunu Monastery looks incredible! High atop that mountain must have commanded a view that stretched to the end of the world. I would have loved to travel in the basket providing there was a mechanical back-up in case of an itch....ha ha. I long to visit Greece and will save this posting so I don't miss a thing. Lastly, great memory, great write-up and looking forward to your next entry. See ya, Jeff

How Spiritual!
Your travels really inspire me and I hope that one day I can see the world as you do! This monastery must have been amazing and to take such a spiritual journey back to the 10th century must have been very moving. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is unlike any other I have ever seen!! How interesting is that architecture! Looking forward to your next posting!! Jeff
