I know it looks like all my entries are from Lilongwe, I promise I don't spend all my time here... Hey everyone! So for the last two weeks I have been traveling like crazy. I first traveled to Blantyre and then to my site in Nsanje. I didn’t take any pictures of my house/site because I didn’t get to stay in it, but I did at least get to get a quick look around. Maybe in the next few weeks I will have some pictures of where I will be living for everyone! Anyway, Friday July 11th I traveled back from [View Full Entry]

Okay, so I have a lot of pictures that I really want to put on the internet, so we will see how many actually download. Otherwise I am going to try to send a few of them via email if it is faster… Anyway, for the last 5 or 6 weeks I have been living at a college in Dedza and/or in a village called Zuze not far from the college, also in the Dedza district. At the college I lived in a hostel with the other 21 Peace Corps Trainees that will be working in the health sector of Malawi [View Full Entry]

Hey! Picture time! We arrived in Lilongwe this morning, but 22 people trying to cram onto 5 computers...well chaos. I have not seen any crocs yet! Lilongwe is not quite what I expected... I have been without Starbucks/Coffee that is not instant since..? I miss cheese and chocolate. :) Okay, other than that I am staying in a village not far from Dedza, in a village without electricty and running water, but I AM HAVING AN AWSOME TIME. And I am learning A LOT. Alright, now for pictures... Write ME! I only have like 4 addresses. The rest I left at [View Full Entry]

Training in Africa Africa » Malawi » Central
Hey everyone! So, this is the first time I have been near a computer since I got to Malawi, and of course I don't have much time (I don't want to be out after dark here). Anyway, I love it here! Right now I am living in a village south of Lilongwe. Training is hard, and I am not the best at foreign languages, but I really am excited. This Saturday we will find out where we will be stationed for the next two years, but I already have a feeling I will be somewhere south at a nursing school...But, the [View Full Entry]

I made it! BUT, I am getting ready to leave our Southern Sun hotel to get back on a plane to Malawi... I have not pictures, this area is super industrialized around the airport so there is really nothing to take a picture of. Plus, we were told to STAY IN THE HOTEL. Anyway, I hope that I will be able to find some time (and electricity/internet access) to post something during training! [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone! So I just finished up my pre-service training today....It was peachy. There are 22 of us leaving for Malawi tomorrow. Most are around my age, in their early/mid twenties, but not everyone. I am only one of three licensed nurses going, but everyone leaving will be contributing to improving the health of Malawi. I thought that I would post something on here tonight since I will be out of communication for the next 8 weeks! Tomorrow I will be leaving JFK on a 16 hour flight to South Africa, and Monday I will hop on a plane for Malawi!! [View Full Entry]

Barcelona! Europe » Spain » Catalonia » Barcelona
This city is HOT and all uphill but I have to admit it has a certain charm. Gaudi has some crazy buildings here too. I love Barcelona! When I signed up for this trip I really wasn't too excited about Spain, but I am soo happy I decided to go. Okay, so our first day in my sister and I walked down the street from the hotel to a small park down the street. We hiked up the side of a nature trail and looked down toward the city. Afterwards we went back to the hotel and hung out on [View Full Entry]

We stayed in Nime in the smallest hotel room I have ever slept in in my life. The individuals that worked at this hotel were very considerate and helpful (though that might be due to the fact that Melissa and I had bunk beds in our room) and the area wasn't that bad, BUT my roommate and I were the last people of our group to get rooms so we got the small room. No, I am not bitter, but if we had stayed their more than one night I might have been. :) Anyway, today we spent most of [View Full Entry]

Today was a beautiful day! Which sure beat yesterday, which consisted of lots rain and wind. I did get some sunburn on my back and my legs, however. We got into Cannes yesterday evening, and had the hardest time finding a decent dinner because everything seemed to shut down at like 8pm. Our hotel here in Cannes is the nicest hotel that we have visited...except they don't change out your towels everyday (but that is like one minus point out of like 50 pluses). There is a pool in the center of the hotel, and it is just a five [View Full Entry]

Pisa Europe » Italy » Tuscany » Pisa
Hello! So, my tour guide told me that the tower of Pisa was not supposed to be leaning, but that it just has done so overtime...Unfortunately, we did not stay her for more than one hour, so I did not get the chance to actually climb the tower (I know, that is kinda lame) but I did take some pretty cheesy pics though that I know you all are excited about! ENJOY! [View Full Entry]
