After spending a few days in Swakopmund we started heading north via a ziz-zag route that took us to Karibib, Omaruru,Otjiwarongo, Outjo,Khorixas Kamanjab and Opuwo. Opuwo was our last stop for diesel and it seemed to be a butsling little town. And then soon we were leaving Opuwo behind, making our way along a dusty, but good quality, dirt road. It was hot as we drove on through the afternoon taking in the everchanging landscape as we made our way to Epembe, biting the dust of a truck loaded high with Coca-Cola products. This was the perfect place to unwind. White-water rafting and fishing is available for those who feel more energetic but I was perfectly happy to just sit and listen to the birds or watch the agamas and squirrels darting about, doing nothing much more energetic than taking a refreshing dip in the pool from time to time. A sundowner cruise on the river was a chance to see it in a different mood and get some sunset photographs.
