visit to avilon accessibility a problem: I took a taxi from my hotel in Manila and had the driver wait for me and it cost me an arm and a leg
too dark: some displays are so dark that I can't really see if there is anything in there at all (special lighting could have been used)
photo taking: instead of prohibiting photo taking in certain displays, it should indicate that flash photography is restricted
cage labels/tags: there should be a uniform identification system containing English name, scientific name and if available Filipino name (the id's i saw are mostly English and scientific but they were written to look like scrawled by a kid
road: this may not be under the control of the zoo management but it would be nice if the road from the town proper to the zoo itself will be cemented; when I visited, it was raining and the taxi driver cannot figure out if the road is passable or not (cannot assess depth of holes on the road if they are covered by muddy water and there were lots of potholes)
over all assessment: I will come back again if the opportunity arise (I am an expatriate); the set up is very good, the animals are unique, I have seen species that I haven't seen in my visits to zoos in Finland, the Serengeti in Tanzania (well that's not a zoo! and is special in it's own right), San Diego, California, Los Angeles, California. I also visited smaller zoos in southern and central California, as well as those in (or near) Seattle, Washington; Phoenix, Arizona; St. Louis, Missouri; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Edmonton, Canada, among others. I love visiting zoos. Avilon Zoo is special!!! Love it. I recommend it to every zoo loving person who can get there.
