Sunday we left the ALCAN Highway and got on Hwy. 37 crossing from the Yukon in to British Columbia. Hwy 37 consists of many twists and turns and is literally in the middle of nowhere (this is coming from a Burke native). Most of it is paved, but we found some sections that were just dirt. While coming around a curve near the side of a mountain we saw 5 mountain goats hanging out by the side of the road. We stayed in our tent at Mountain Shadow RV Park in Iskut. It was such a pretty place with a lake and mountains towering above it. They had a nice trail down to the lake, so we took Duke for a walk. Today we left Beaver Creek, YT around 8 a.m. The overcast and foggy conditions gradually gave way to some amazing weather just in time for us to reach Kluane Lake (one of our favorite locations from 3 years ago when we were driving to AK). This time we pulled over and took a walk with Duke down to the water. He had fun smelling everything in sight and just getting a chance to get out of the car. It sure is a good thing he loves car rides!!!! Kluane Lake is gorgeous with aqua waters and surrounded by the Ruby and Wrangell-St. Elias mountain ranges. We left a very rainy Anchorage after saying our goodbyes on Friday morning. Of course this was after we had discovered that our movers (and admittedly, us) forgot to pack a very large closet full of books, so we had to scurry to take care of that problem with no small amount of help from Andy Tucker and Jen's boss, John Kagerer! After that auspicious beginnning, we had smooth 'sailing', making great time with a stop at Matanuska Glacier, Glenallen for lunch, and Tok. Then we crossed into Canada, and crashed for the evening at Westmark in Beaver Creek, Yukon.
