So i'm back here to update after several days in Udaipur; a beautiful city aptly named "The Venice of Asia". With it's golden sunsets and magnificent mountain spectacles, it's no surprise it's a popular stop for couples. After all, with the girl there with you, "she has nowhere else to go". But that's according to Joe. During our short stay in Udaipur at Ashfar's place called Lake View, we essentially chilled to a purely decadent level. Drinks, food and lounging. But that's not all, we went no day trips to the villages where we paid a couple of high school students to take us around. We visited a park in construction, which was free until the inauguration. Typical. Then went to the rural villages and had some pure sugarcane juice that was crushed by a small ... read more
So we left our home stay at Fort Cochin and got our tickets. Bad news is the train leaves in 12 hours. We end up chilling at the same juice bar for about 3 hours, went to watch an epic Indian movie about some warlord and some hot chick who married him and is suspected of trying to assassinate him, far too many plots squashed into a movie, we left after 2 hours, i dunno how long it is. So essentially, we just bummed about for the next several hours then went to the station where we met a Israeli soldier who has been in India for 3 months already. When the train finally arrived we hopped into our sleeper car and tried to sleep, it was pretty hardcore stuff. A few hours of sleep later, ... read more
So, we've landing at Kochi International, all's good and well. About an hour cab ride later in a tiny toyota and we're at our work place. The drivers here seem to drive like F1 drivers and the use of custom horns are MANDATORY if not encouraged. After some shut-eye, we got up and headed out to see the usual touristy sights of the area, nothing fancy. Christian churches and a dutch cemetary were just about as cultural as it gets. I donated 20 rupees, insurance wasn't necessary after all. We walking along the beach where some skirt-wearing men fished with humongous trebuchet-looking contraptions. Shirong reminded me they're Chinese fishing nets. So essentially there isn't much to say just yet, we're somewhere called Enarkalum in Cochin, it's 11.45am now and we've got to hop on a night ... read more
A couple more weeks until i embark on a terribly short, 5 week, "wing it" trip to the touristy India. My buddy and i have not dealt with the logistics, no visa, no med-kit, no backpack. The only thing we've got are the fucking tickets. The Indian embassy says it takes a maximum of 2 working days to issue a visa to non-terrorist suspects. My new buzz-cut should make me look decent enough. Also if there's anyone who would care to provide us with warnings or advice, please feel free to. Cheers. ... read more
