On day 7 we left Bangkok and hopped on a bus headed for Kanchanaburi. It's a province about two hours west of Bangkok. Arriving Kanchanaburi we grabbed a "taxi", which was nothing more than a pickup truck with two benches on the bed, and set off to our hotel for the next two nights. The hotel was a BIG and beautiful place, BUT, we must have been the only two guests that place had seen in quite a while. It took us a good 5 minutes to get from the lobby to our room, and whenever we were out of the room we had most of the staff follow our every move. Day 2 ended well. After we left our room and came down to the hostels reception we were greeted by an award winningly ugly woman that spoke with a very dark voice and had peculiar black dots in her face. Assa's first meeting with one of Thailands numerous ladyboys. She was nice and gave us directions on how to get to Khao San road which is a favourite party street among the backpackers in Bangkok. After hanging out with the 1 billion other backpackers at Khao San road and introducing Assa to Chang beer and Thai cuisine for way to many hours we walked home and stuffed our faces with Thai pancakes and other streetfood goodies.
