A colleague remarked recently: "Does the hat have its own passport? I am sure it is far more well-travelled than I am."
Well, errm, no. In fact it isn't even in my passport! I actually had to take it off at a border crossing once, so the officer could see it really was me in that passport ... when I was leaving the country!
