This year has passed in a blur already, i can hardly believe we're in April 2010! many events have come and gone in the last few months.. namely New Year (Sensation!!), the Melbourne Open, My Birthday (a wash out, quite literally!), Good Vibrations Festival, Future Festival (again, a washout), the worst storm to hit melbourne in 100 yrs, Moomba Festival, the Grand Prix, Easter, Melbourne international comedy festival.. have i mentioned enough? haha... of course not! The main purpose of this blog is to note 2 particularly entertaining weeks whereby I took time off work and went and explored Australia with 2 fellow friends, one of which was the infamous Katie, who came to visit for a month from Ye Olde Brighton. And so the journey out of the city began... Our first leg of the ... read more

The time came for me to board that plane again... on the 9th of Nov 2009 I headed out of the UK again... for the next unpredictable amount of time, with unpredictable adventures and unforseeable futures! And it wasn't until 24hrs and a short 3hr stop in hong kong later that I rocked up in the worlds 3rd most liveable city, on the other side of the world, and at 35 degrees at 10pm the heat wave was on! Destination: Melbourne, Australia. Population 3.7mil and the 2nd largest city in Aus, Melbourne is, as the guide book so aptly describes it 'Sophisticated and slick, edgy and rough'. It is everything one could want encapsulated in a small easily manageable area. Separated by the yarra river which meanders smooth and cleanly through the city centre, melbourne is ... read more

well possums, this is my final blog hello to you all, ahhhh! when i said in the penultimate blog that i was in my last country, that wasnt strictly true. in actual fact i was in my last travelling country. and with every last travelling country comes the last travelling scam. and mine was no exception... i really thought my scamdar was finally switched on to full throtle but these locals, they have ways and means of penetrating the force fields of scamdar at any given moment. it was in ho chi min where i was back for just the day before i flew to bangkok (again). and this is what happened: i was just chillling in this park and these 2 nice vietnamese women came up and started talking to me about england and how ... read more

well, on to our final country. let me first say that all these photos from cambodia and vietnam are actually kates because in true binge brit style i got hilariously drunken in na trang in vietnam and lost my camera. oops! thankfully at the end of the trip and not the beginning and i had backup the majority of my photos, only 2 weeks lost. not so bad. but i did only have 5 days left of the trip so that was a bit silly. anyways, we got to the vietnamese boarder fine and all was well, the officials got on the bus with their ear thermometer things and checked us all then deduced that none of us were self combusting or growing curly tails and oinking so let us go through with no bother. immediately ... read more

well, this blog is only about one place. and the reason for that is becuase i wanted to put vietnam all in one blog so this was the only way to do it. on we go. so we went back from siem reap to number 9 in phnom pehn for 1 night because we had to pick our passports up that had been with the vietnamese embassy getting our visa for vietnam. the next day we caught the bus 6 hours down to the only beach action cambodia has to offer... sihanoukville. this consists of about 2 roads and a loooong beach with multiple beach bars, many of which cater for cambodians who come in their throngs for their weekend and summer holidays. our room wasnt on the beach but it was right next door... perfect. ... read more

yet again people i have neglected to keep up with these little entries of my life... but fear not! for i am on full steam ahead and within the next couple of days i will be up to date like you would never have expected! let the blogging commence! so after thailand was done and dusted and the bucket blanket had just about cleared from our heads (well, we had only stopped drinking them about 4 hours before our flight but thats neither here nor there, and in actual fact 4 hours of not drinking is considered t total in thailand!) we boarded our plane to phnom penn, the capital of cambodia. i dont have a lot to say about the 10th flight of the trip, save to say that kates boyfriend had instilled the fear ... read more

luckily for everyone envolved the time came to hit south east asia. our last night in joburg was spent in greenside (the nice area!) with the management of a newly built hostel taking us to an authentic restaurant for a tapas of south african grub served up on a slab of corrugated iron listening to the african drums. cool! onwards to thailand. and this bit of the whole blog affair should be pretty easy and painless to get through seeing as this was my third time to thailand. so we hit the kok and did the ususal...nothing has changed you'll be pleased to hear, kao san road still bangs its way through life, spilling out in every orifice and direction, still selling their cocktails (the boards say 'really strong' this time) and their chang beaters and ... read more

amazingly we managed to get onto a trip to kruger for the next morning for 2 nights and 3 days! amazing. so we got picked up at 5.30am and headed to the national park to do one of my all time top things to do before i die.. safari in africa! i was unbelievably excited! it took all day to drive up there, we stopped at a couple of places on the way.. a view point over the 4th (i think) largest canyon in the world.. very impressive. and some potholes, less impressive. to be honest would rather have gone straight there and got a night drive in but it doesnt work like that so we couldnt. the site that we stayed in on the first night was amazing. it was like a resort, outside the ... read more
