Hospitality Hi Sandra,
Hope all well with you and I am sure you are looking forward to returning to a 'warm' Oz again. Just a belated thank you for the loan of the suitcase and for your efforts in bringing some of our stuff back to the UK. I look back on the time with you both with great fondness as I thought that Perth was a lovely place to be.
Take care and maybe our paths will cross again some day.

Finishing Line Hi Linda and all the family members, Yes, we did make it. No comment on the drive back to the UK though, except that there was a very enthusiastic person in the Hillman Club who wanted us to turn around and drive back to the UK from here. That, he said, really would be a first. Final blog now in print. See you when I get back. xx

Finishing Line Hi Annie, thanks for your wonderful support over the months preceeding the finish. Sadly, we didn't see the family in Sydney, but I hope they have enjoyed the adventure along with us. Look forward to seeing you once back in UK.
Fond regards, Barry
Fuel pumps Hi Simon, read my final blog - it says a lot for the work you put into the car, thank you, but we really still have an issue with the fuel pumps. We are carrying two spare back with us and the two fitted are sourced from India and working well! I still cannot understand why we should have to turn one tap off if using the other tank when we our two switches inside the car were supposed to allow us to just switch tanks when one had run out of fuel. John thinks one pump sucks it back into the other tank. I don't but we gotta sort it out when we return to the UK. Otherwise, a great feeling of achievement to have reached here.

Finishing Line Hello John, thanks for the kind words. I can't believe it is here either but it is and the pictures are now published to prove that we really have crossed the bridge and drawn up close to the Opera House as we said we would.

Many Congratulations! I saw your car outside the Asda store in Andover and made a small donation to your cause. It hardly seems possible that that same car is now halfway round the world, and got there under it's own steam. Well done to you both!
P.S. Where's the pictures?
Congratulations! How fantastic! You made it but then we never doubted that you would. What an incredible experience and memories both good and bad to last you a lifetime! However saying that John we understand that you are already thinking of returning to Australia next year to drive back to the UK!! We all found that very amusing but knowing you, that could very well happen! Congratulate yourselves, it has been a briiliant adventure for all of us to follow. We simply cannot wait now to have you back home so roll on the 10th August! With much love from all the Lewis-Ososki -Morgan tribe xxxxxxx
Hi This is Roger, friend of Dianne and Bryan. I hear you are arriving at Hornsby on sunday the 18th. I would like to be there but cannot make it. I wondered if we could meet you while you were in Sydney before you go back.
Best regards,
Roger
CONGRATULATIONS I never doubted for one moment you wouldn't do it you were so well prepared and determined.
I have loved every moment of the blogs and photos it is going to be very sad not to have them to read.
Well I hope my Son Michael and wife Christine can come to wave you in as they have lived in Sydney for the past 20 years and he works for Quantas.
Well again many many Congraulations on this epic journey to you both.
All my very best Annie
final leg wish i could be there to see you complete the marathon it was a great logistic feat glad the car performed better than the bureaucrats.
clive.
Hi Annie Just to let you know in case your son can get there, we will be at the Hornsby RSL all being well at 1300 hours next Sunday. Love to meet him there. Hope you are OK. Barry
Hi You will be back in the UK when you read this. Yes, we are round the top and on the way down! Hope all went OK on your journey back home. See you there next month. Barry
Hi It's fantastic to get comments and messages such as yours - these blogs take a long time to prepare and load and comments such as yours makes it worthwhile staying up to 2am to do it! Nearly there! Barry
Hi Hi you two. Yes, we are nearly at the 15,000 miles mark. Just a few more days to go. See the latest blog. It takes ages to do and now at nearly 2.00am in the morning I want some sleep too!! See you both soon. B
Didgeredoo to you too!! Yes, I had a blow on one when in Fremantle and made some of the right noises, but I have a surprise for you when I get back, but you will of course have to wait until I get there to find out what!! xxxxx
Nearly there! Well guys, you are not doing much blogging but obviously for a civilised country Aus is not good with communications. You guys have done really well to achieve what you have achieved, you are on the last leg and it will all be over before you know it. Then what are you going to do? Bit of anti-climax! So why not drive it back to the UK???? Now that really would be an achievement! You seen any of the famous nasty creepy crawlies whilst camping? Met any interesting indigenous people? Tried to throw a boomerang or blow a didgeridoo? Get blogging, this is the last bit and we need to know it all, there will be no reading material for us after the grand entrance into Sydney...have a they arranged a firework display on the bridge for you????? Drive safely and give that little car a pat and polish, it really has done incredibly well and needs a little reward. E x
Hi Hi guys
my name is Roger, friend of Brian and Diane Geater of Hungerford. I used to live in Great Bedwyn, i now live in Sydney, Australia.
I would like to know when you arrive in Sydney if possible. Brian said to meet you which would be good.
Good luck with the rest of your trip,
Roger.
Broome hi there, lucky you on the weather, its is raining cats and dogs back in Perth and cold too. Hope the rest of your journey goes well, well done! xx
At the beginning of 2008 two of us were discussing cars while John was reading his Classic Car magazine and read out an advertisement asking for entrants to take part in the re-run of the greatest and longest endurance rally of all time – the 1968 London to Sydney race, which was won by Andrew Cowan in a Hillman Hunter – now a classic car. We decided to enter.
The rally was due to start in November 2008 from London and finish in Sydney on the 10th December but it never did materialise – due to Australian quarantine issues – they refused to allow cars to proceed into Oz without a two day Â... full info
