Our Australia leg of our trip started with a week in Melbourne, where we got to stay with the lovely Komps. Whilst there we got to explore the city with the help of our lovely guides, aged 12 and 9! We also got a really nice day on the Great Ocean Road, so got see the 12 Apostles, The Grotto and London Bridge etc. We also took a day trip to Phillip Island to see the penguing and got to go on the Puffing Billy steam train. It was really nice to be able to spend a few days chilling in the house, to organise some more of our trip and just relax in front of the tv. We were also treated to some Australian goodies such as Twisties, TimTams and a range of ciders in ... read more

The ferry crossing to the South Island went smoothly and we were soon back on the road heading towards Motueka on the windiest road I've ever seen! We were up early in the morning to take a day trip to the Abel Tasman National Park which started with a bus ride. Next we got onto a boat which took us on a 2 hour tour of the coastline before dropping us at Bark Bay to start our walk. The walk was really fun and gave some amazing views. We also had to cross a swing bridge which was cool. We arrived in Torrent Bay with loads of time to spare so we decided to carry on walking to the next pick up in Anchorage so we walked about 10km in total. It was a really good ... read more

We spent 11 days on the North Island in total, we flew into Auckland on a pretty awesome flight, with a “sky couch” which basically doubled the width of the three seats in your row so you could properly lie down. We'd left LA at 21:45 on the 31st of March and arrived in Auckland at 05:00 on the 2nd April, therefore losing a whole day of our lives! Whilst in Auckland we explored the city, going down to the waterfront to see the bridge and going up the sky tower. On our 4th day we picked up our campervan, then had to drive it back through Auckland centre which was rather difficult when I'm not used to driving such a big vehicle! Our road trip began by heading north to the Bay of Islands, taking ... read more

This one's being written a bit late seeing as we have now been in New Zealand for over a week but anyway here it is. We stayed in West Hollywood in a really good hostel called Banana Bungalow and had a pretty busy week. On the day of our arrival we met two sisters from Kent who were in our room and spent the week with them. It was raining when we arrived so Rhi and I decided to go to Madame Tussauds to take silly photos with the wax works. On our first whole day we walked up to Hollywood Boulevard to see the Walk of Fame and Graumann's Chinese Theatre. We then walked all the way down Sunset strip and saw The Viper Rooms and House of Blues. We walked right to Beverly Hills ... read more

We have just checked out of our hostel in San Francisco but our bus to LA isn't until 9pm so I have plenty of time to update you. Las Vegas was really good. We landed in the evening which meant that we could see all the lights as we landed and as we got the shuttle bus to our hotel. Our hotel, Circus Circus was insane! Our room was on the 25th floor and had two queen size beds and a nice size bathroom so plenty of space. The hotel was more like a resort as it had about 6 restaurants, lots of shops, a casino, circus tent and even a theme park including a rollercoaster! Whilst we were in Vegas we took a day tour to the Grand Canyon which was incredible however there are ... read more

We fly out to Vegas tomorrow afternoon so I thought now would be a good time for an update. We arrived safely at JFK after an awesome flight. To start with it was a double decker plane which I'd been hoping for, we each had a cocktail, the food was nice and watching Friends with Benefits, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Johnny English made the 7 or so hours fly by. The first two days here were spent taking in the sites, I coud probably go on about them but here's a list instead! World Trade Centre site (though we didn't go in but could see the massive gap that's been left and the construction of the Freedom Tower), the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, New York Stock Exchange, Brooklyn Bridge, Rockafeller Center, ... read more

There's just two days left before we fly out to New York and start our round the world trip (the countdown is a day out for some reason)! I thought I should check how to upload photos into the blog and things and as I am far too prepared I thought I'd share some photos of my overly organised bag. The next entry should be from New York and will hopefully be a bit more interesting!... read more

I'm having another day where I'm really excited about travelling, even though it's still a while away. I thought I'd start a blog on here to keep things separate from my general blog and because on here I can use the map features and more importantly, add a countdown! I've just been looking at visas and trying to work out what we'll need so getting those sorted and getting jabs are next on my list of things to do. That's all for now!... read more
