On Friday we left Methvyn to go back to Dave's and Heather's place in Rakia Huts. When we got there Dave took me and Caleb into one of the nearby fields to have a go shooting 3 different guns. Those 3 guns were an air pistol, a 22 calibre rifle and a shot gun. He taught us that safety always comes first and when you are not shooting to make sure the safety lock is on. Shooting was great though the air pistol was hard to align and difficult to hit the target, luckily the rifle had a scope attachment on and that was much easier to aim with. We had no internet access at Rakia Huts and so have had to wait until today to complete the blog. After Rakia Huts we went to Christchurch ... read more

Our teacher, Paul, taught us a heal turn, toe turn, C turn and a S turn. Dad and I were pretty good, it helped that I was good at ripstiking, I could jump with the board and go up a half pipe. When we woke up it was a mad rush to get the bus that goes to the snow fields (later we found out we were actualy early). When we were at the snow fields we discovered we were literally above the clouds, we drove through the clouds on the bus and it was amazing. When we were ready we went to our lessons on how to snow board and it went quite well. Since I missed the additional lesson I went to the top of the ski slope a long time after Caleb and Dad. I eventuly got up and loved it since it was so fun having more control when they kept on slipping down. What I did best was making drifts in the snow on the snowboard. Bailey ... read more

This morning we visited the franz Josef Glacier and aparentley it use to be over the valley floor however it is melting faster than it is growing. dad challenged us to run/jog to the top of a lookout and if we did he would buy us a donut factory (we later found out he meant donut machine), I reached the top running while caleb and eventuly made it (puffing viggeresly) we later went to fox glacier and found out there was recently a rockfall. I thought the same about both of the glaciers scince it was a long walk and though it is titanic it's just ice while dad thought it would cool his beer well. Bailey... read more

Today we left Hanmer Springs, our aim was to get to Karamea but it rained nearly all the way and because the water level was touching the bottom of the bridge that leads into Karamea and rising we chose to go South to Punakaiki. There we saw a kiwi bird and the pancake rocks and it was so amazing, the only bad part: we can't eat them (the pancakes). We saw a natural blowhole and a natural carving of different animals. We decided to go to Greymouth since it will be easier to go to the train station and go to Christchurch on the train on Saturday. P.S. my turn to sleep on the bed above the drivers seat tonight.
