May 19, 2008 I just wanted to say thanks to anyone who read my blog or looked at my pictures. I hope you enjoyed everything. Hopefully they helped you to see some of what my life was like during this life-changing experience. I started making a list of some of the things that I will miss about Sevilla, so here it is (in no particular order): ~ Lolina ~ Andrés ~ Nano and IB ~ Arrayán ~ 100 Montaditos ~ Helado ~ Rayas ~ Orsini’s ~ The river ~ Catedral and Giralda ~ Torre de Oro ~ Pasarela ~ Plazas ~ Palm Trees ~ Orange trees ~ Walking ~ Starbucks on Sundays ~ My friends ~ Heat and sun ~ Tinto de verano ~ The food ~ Principes ~ Fútbol and Sevilla FC ~ Flamenco ~ ... read more
May 18, 2008 I didn’t sleep well at all last night (probably 45 minutes out of 3 hours) because I was so nervous/excited/sad. I decided to just get up at 4 am and get some last minute stuff together and get ready to go. Lolina woke up, and then we moved my stuff by the door to wait for my taxi. When he came, we loaded it up, and I said goodbye to Lolina. That was really sad since she has been like my mom/grandma for the past 4 months. I was going to the airport with Leah, so we went to go pick her up, and then went to the airport. We got our tickets, went through security, grabbed some breakfast, and headed to our gate to board. We left Sevilla and landed in Madrid ... read more
May 17, 2008 When I finally woke up this morning, I didn’t want to start the packing that was in store for the day; so instead, I messed around with pictures and games on my computer. Then I was getting bored, and the packing was imminent, so I decided to get started. Lolina and I had our final lunch/meal together. Then it was back to the packing for about 4 hours. I had so much stuff that it was rather interesting cramming everything into my bags; good think my parents brought some stuff home for me already! The day had finally turned nice with sun and a blue sky, so I decided to go on a walk, one last time, and to go to the last Starbucks that Julie and I hadn’t been to. I walked ... read more
May 16, 2008 This morning I had my final for Civ. I was so happy when that was over because I was not a fan of the class, mainly because it was history, and history and I don’t get along! I was an official SENIOR! That is scary stuff! I hung out at the Center for a little bit more, and then waited for Katie to come back from the airport because her mom and grandma’s plane was stuck in Lisbon for 12 hours. We walked home and I took a record shower (3 minutes!) before lunch. Lolina made my favorite food for our last lunch altogether. Then I got ready, and walked to school to drop off my phone while Julie packed. Then I walked to Triana to meet Katie to take her stuff to ... read more
Andrés (my intercambio), his wife, Inma, and me at the International Cervecería for our last meeting :(
May 15, 2008 I didn’t do much today since my final wasn’t until 6 at night. So I studied some and hung out. After lunch, Julie and I headed to school where I decided to not study more and get confused since I knew my stuff. My Art History final wasn’t bad, just super long. When it was over, I made plans to meet up with Andrés one more time. I met him and his wife, Inma, at the International Cervecería. We hung out for awhile, drank some beers, and talked. Then they ordered the special dishes from the cervecería for me. One was an ensaladilla de gambas, which means shrimp salad. Well I was a little nervous because I don’t like shrimp, but I tried it anyways. It looked a lot like potato salad does, ... read more
May 12, 2008 Just thought everyone should know that today is my mom’s 50th birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love you, even if you are getting old!... read more
May 11, 2008 After our hour and a half nap, we were up again, getting ready to leave to catch the bus to the airport. We had to meet the bus 3:15 before our flight, which ended up meaning we had to be there by 5:20. We had thought we would just take the Metro, but it closed at nights, hardly any buses ran, and we didn’t want to waste money on a taxi. So, Theresa and I decided to continue our walking. We figured it would take us about an hour and half, so we left around 3:30 to give us some extra time. We were a little nervous walking that far at that time of day, but the street we were on was very busy with people still out. We finally made it to ... read more
May 10, 2008 This morning, Theresa and I planned on waking up and going to climb the stairs of the Eiffel Tower, so we got ready and headed out on our walk. It ended up taking longer than we expected, and we were supposed to meet Katie and Bri at 12:30 to ride a hot air balloon. We walked towards Parc André Citroën, and along the way we passed the Statue of Liberty that the US gave France. I think it is kinda funny that I had to see the Statue of Liberty in France before I made my way to New York to see the original! We stopped before we got to the park to have a snack. We found the park, and saw the hot air balloon. Unfortunately it wasn’t what we had thought; ... read more
May 4, 2008 I went to my last mass at the Cathedral this morning. It was really pretty because the paso we saw yesterday was at the Silver Altar of the Cathedral, and that is where they celebrated the mass. We were going to go to Museo de Bellas Artes, but the line was so long, that we decided to wait til another day. We ate lunch early, and then hung out before it was time to leave to go to our Sevilla Fútbol Game! We had to get our Starbucks, especially since it would be the last Sunday to do so, so we picked it up on our walk to the game. You could tell when we started getting close to the stadium, because everyone was wearing red. We were getting so excited for the ... read more
May 8 & 9, 2008 After classes, well 2 of the 3, I went home for lunch, showered, packed, and headed to the Plaza de Armas Bus Station to meet Theresa and Katie to catch our bus to Madrid at 6pm. We started to trek to Paris, and after 6 hours of being in the bus, we finally made it to Madrid. We took a couple different Metro lines from the bus station to the airport. Unfortunately, we got there around 2:30 am, and since the counter to check in wasn’t open, we had to wait around. Theresa and I were really tired, so we laid on the cold, hard floor to sleep. The counter finally opened, and we went to check in. We went to our gate and slept some more before it was finally ... read more
