Harrod's Hey Emma, You know, when I was a school boy in London, we lived in Embassy housing on a very posh residential square (Montpelier) near Harrod's, and we bought one of the puppies you mention. It was a Jack Russel Terrier, and we named him Harrod ("of Knightsbridge, Limited") after his store of origin.
nice slides! there was a time, and i'm being stone cold dead serious here, when i was developing a plan to build one leading from my window to the lawn behind keefe. i still might. london looks jolly fun.
Sounds like a "fantabulous" visit! Be sure you skip the Sorbonne... Grampa was there in "68 when the gendarmes were waiting quietly in the dark ready to bash the students when they receivred the order! Don't miss the Rodin Museum--Grampa's favorite. Small butt chockful of pieces you probably have never seen before. Hugs.
ah yes (cont.) Emma's reference to the last visit to this site refers to our whirlwind single day in Paris after a more extended family visit to Bordeaux...Late in our long last day in France, tired, and cold for late summer, we parked our rental van quasi-legally, left the exhausted brothers and friend Amandine in the car, and literally ran, Emma and I, to see the fountains beyond this plaza all lit up and flowing. She was thirteen at the time. We held hands. It was grand.
Uh-oh It might be worth researching when this show "comes down". Maybe a spot between the exhibit hall and the dumpster might glean some choice discards... or better yet, do they need help taking the exhibit down? Maybe one could get paid to help empty the shelves.
Amazing and delicious Emma -- what a day, I am totally jealous! Thank you for sharing -- I am clearly heading downstairs to raid the Halloween candy before the night is over.....I especially enjoyed the idea of chocolate clothes, fashionesta to the max! Love you more than dark chocolate covered in crunchy almonds....Freddi
fab pictures i've never been here Emma but I really want to . I love your photographic arrangements. Keep walking on air hinny!
Love from your geordie cousin
Bravo Emma -- I feel like you are holding my hand and giving me the best tour I could ever imagine, to see Paris....France....through your eyes and hear the patter inside your head is amazing. Thank you darlin'....Love you.
If you liked this... Have you tried the Allee des Cygnes? If you walk from North to South, you'll find a surprising anomaly at the South end... If its still there. It is not as glorious or as long as your promenade, but its right in the middle of the Seine. Love, D.O.D.
Great journal! Awesome info about the museum, I remember having those same feelings when looking at familiar art. Russian Dolls are my favorite, and I would love to have that extensive collection. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us! Nathalie
Funiculaire? Did you see the old funiculaire cable car up the Montmartre hill? Is it even still there, I wonder. It was too expensive for this Paris student in his day, and actually looked a little rickety. Love, Dad
Of course. Of course there would be no straw, Emma. Civil etiquette requires that even wine from a juice box must be served in a glass, and the appropriate one, too. Let us know if Cognac comes in a can. Love, Dad
Jus box de vin OK, this is a hoot! Somehow putting this in a picnic basket for a day in the country compared to a bottle of wine doesn't seem right...even for me! Bonjour Emma.
Avec l'amour.
Andrea Louise
Memories of Montmatre with Gayle Behrman Emma: Your mother and I with Mom and Dad visited Paris when I was in 6th grade and Gayle going into 10th grade I believe. We loved Montmatre and the open air artists. You may remember the charcoal black and white (then, color) drawings made of Gayle, Mom, and me. What a lovely day even among the clouds. Am enjoying every blog entry! Love, Andrea Louise
