The four of us had been to Rome and Civitavecchia on a previous trip, so we decided not to take a Cruise tour. We did, however, purchase tickets for a private carriage on the train from the Port of Civitavecchia to just outside St Peters Square. The carriage came with Max, a tour guide who kept us entertained on the trip into Rome and delivered so much information about the Port and Rome, it all ended up in a jumble in our heads. Max showed us how to get to the square with directions to meet him back at that spot and where to go to the toilets and not have to pay. All handy information.
