Hello western world! How are you all, well we hope? This is the other backdated blog that brings us up to date! We left the last blog after crossing the border so we will carry on from there... Stung Treng was an odd but relativly charming little town. Even though we were only thirty miles into Cambodia, Loas already felt a long way away. No more sticky rice, shame :-( We did find a great place on the main street for our first Cambodian meal though. They spoke very little English, the freindly staff, along with a comical woman running the show, but that didn't stop them knocking us up a great Cambodian style chicken curry. As we only really stopped at Stung Treng to break up the journey (glad we did) we left first thing ... read more

Hi Everyone :-) Hope everything is good back at home? And no more nail bombs in Exeter?? How weird! Sorry we havn't blogged for a while - we are in Cambodia already but will have to backdate due to lack of internet action lately! (Also thats why you havn't had any emails guys, sorry). We will do the Cambodia blog soon as well now we are back in some kind of civilisation. Anyway... from Pakse in Central Laos we headed south to Champasak to get a taster for things to come at Angkor. Our journey there was a real experience - we were loaded into a full sawangtaew (truck with two benches either side and one squashed in the middle!). It was full of locals, a girl called Naomi from New Orleans, various things like about ... read more

Hello World! Hope everyone is OK back in the now apparently sunny UK. Glad to hear the weather is better now (short of our 35c though :)) and that things are ticking over OK. Congrats to Clare on her MA, we will have a drink for you later and when we return! Ceeeeeeelebration woo! This will be a monster blog so again get comfy, seek refreshments and settle in for a bumpy ride! Also this blog marks some shocking news.... WE ARE HALFWAY THROUGH OUR TRAVELS! It has come around unbelivebly quickly! We had decided to come home on sept 1st but due to all the flights being full we will now offcially be returning on the 12th of September. Here are some amusing statistics as I love them; Days away from home so far: 134 ... read more

Hi Everyone, Hope everything is going great back at home? Sorry we havn't blogged for a while (apart from the mini Burma blog). We left the last blog in Thailand so will carry on from there... From Chiang Mai we went onto Chiang Rai which is about a 3hour coach ride north so the scenery changed from flat to bumpy mountains. We decided to walk out to our guesthouse (Akha River Lodge) but ended up walking around for about an hour trying to find it in the dark! Things have changed slightly since Lonely Planet map was drawn and there is a huge new road in the process of being built (right alongside our Guesthouse!) The room was ok bu the shower didn't turn off at all and all of the staff were virtually comatosed, not ... read more

Hello Everyone from Burma/Myanmar! Haha yes thats right we are not in Thailand well not for the next hour or 2 anyway, were in Tachileik in far north eastern Myanmar! We are on our way from Northern Thailand to the Laos border at Chang Kong so we thought it would be amusing to go to Mae Sai and cross the border to Burma for an afternoon! Yes we are sad but it has been quite amusing and a visa for Myanmar only costs 10 dollars. We thought that it would be pretty much the same, as we are about 100 yds from our hotel in Thailand on the other side of the river! But to be honest its really different, its like a weird 50/50 mix of India and Thailand waaaaay more beggars and touts than ... read more

Secondly hello to everyone who is receiving this for the first time, there were a fair few people we had forgetten to add at the beginning as this was intended as a noticeboard to keep the two mothers sane while we were away! So welcome on board and to catch up with everything weve posted so far go to www.travelblog.org/bloggers/deanandsarah So we last blogged on our way to the airport in Sri Lanka, even though we uploaded it ... read more

Hi Everyone :-)Sorry for the delayed blog but the internet cafes in Sri Lanka were pretty bad so we had to wait until Bangkok to add pictures, worth the wait I hope. Hope you are all ok back at home. Sorry it has been a while since the last blog. I think we last blogged from Ella so will carry on from there. After the unfortunate rain in Ella we had to get a taxi to Mirissa on the south coast-hurray the weather gets better! On the way down we followed the A2 (eastern road) so we saw the heavy millitary presence which seperates the east from west! Think soldiers with mounted machine guns every mile or so. Also saw the heavily hit tsunami areas including the parts effected around Tangalla. We really wished we could ... read more

Hello from Sri Lanka :-) Thank you all for the emails/messages, missing you all! First of all... Dean needs to get something off his chest! WALES! AGAIN....GLORIOUS WALES! Needless to say he is pretty chuffed with the result of the grand slam/6 nations! He say's Shane Williams is a legend, bring on the Aussies.... Right, anyway :-) Got into Sri Lanka just over a week ago. Started our journey in Negombo as we avoided Colombo partly because of the trouble and partly because I have had enough of the city scene. Our first night and we had rain, not just a bit of rain, but big fat tropical rain! So British weather suddenly doesn't seem so bad! Doesn't help that we have only come prepared for warmer climates! Although Silver Sands, our hotel, was cheap and ... read more

Hope everyone is OK, and yes we know it has been a while, so here comes our monster end of India round up! First things first!!!!! Wales, wales glorious wales! I cant describe how thrilled I am that Wales saw off Ireland in the rugby, and how gutted I am that I probably wont get to see the France game either! Not many places will be showing it in Sri Lanka! Hello everyone Hope you are all ok and eveything is good back at home? One line from Dean before we start the blog-'Come on Wales' (against Italy tomorrow). Needless to say he was chuffed Wales beat England in Twickenham! (It had to happen 1 day I suppose)! Anyway... sorry we havn't blogged for a little while-think we last updated you when we were in Gokarna so we will start from there, even though it seems like ages and ages ago! Gokarna was very interesting (and i finally got over my horrible cold). It was a real mixed bag-full of long term tourists and hippy types but also very spiritual and genuanily Indian at the same time (loads of monks ran past with a body on a stretcher for a funeral procession)! We stayed centrally for a ... read more
