What a beautiful day in Paris! I don’t think I could have asked for better weather…although it was a little hot, and I did get a little sunburn, it was an amazing day. I started my day with breakfast at a restaurant just down the street from my hotel, called Café Lateral. I had a typical French breakfast of croissant, French bread with butter and jam, fresh squeezed orange juice, and “white coffee” which , I believe, was basically an espresso with steamed milk. That was plenty to get me through the better part of my day. My first stop was the Arc de Triomphe. Bonjour Friends and Family! I have arrived! I made it to Paris just about 12 hours ago and have enjoyed every minute! My flight was uneventful, with a quick stop in Iceland (thank you to the volcano for behaving) I slept almost the entire way, thanks to 2 glasses of wine! Once I landed in Paris I grabbed my luggage and was on my way to figure out the train system...which was much easier than I anticipated. I did wander around a little, and probably looked like a typical American tourist who didn't know what they were doing, but I figured it out! Well, I think I’m about as ready as i'm ever going to be for my trip to Europe! I'm leaving in 2 days, and can hardly believe I’ve been planning this for well over a year and a half. Just a little background about how this trip came about...Before my Mom passed away 17 months ago she and I had a conversation about the places we always wanted to travel to. She answered the South of France and Italy. We both knew she wasn't going to get the chance to visit her dream destinations, but it was nice to daydream at the time.
