beautiful I had no idea that India was such a beautiful country. AllI I've ever seen is the poverty. On the train ride where there people all over the train?
How much did Kyle have to pay for the flower pedals for your room?
Joe
What a planet! Wonderful photos, Valeri, and commentary. A way of life one hopes will never ever disappear, but a sense of foreboding that it is. The human challenge of embracing changes for good, for growth, for the future, yet preserving the artistry and heritage and communal practices that keep us human, provide necessary stability, preserve beauty and good. So glad you've experienced this, captured it, and passed it along. Amazing!
Interesting! Not sure I want to know I'm drinking camel's milk. How is it for those of us who are lactose intolerant? I never noticed "high end" horses when visiting India.
horse All these years and all I needed was some jewelry!! would you know difference between the real and the fake?. Darn, I know the answer to that question!! I have a cousin in Dallas who trains horses. His wife has a horse that's like a dog, he comes to the patio to see who's there. Joe
Why . . . . . . would you want to come back home . . . other than because you feel a responsibility to return, to assure that you add your voice to those who refuse to let the country spiral into a terrible caricature of itself? Rest up. Relax. Discover. Shop! Then come home! Amazing 'digs' you were suffering in there amongst the camels!
Camels I somehow knew that there would be camels on your trip! K State lost because your mother couldn't yell loud enough to make up for your missing voice! Joe
I don't believe it! I have 4 grandsons The oldest are are 16 and 17.a granddaughter 18. I'm thinking of moving to canada to establish citizenship for them because we will have more fireworks by the 4th of July. He said he likes war but got 5 deferments. My older brother spent 3 years in the navy after he graduated from dental school and my younger and I spent our time in the Army . I'll bet your father did also, I didn't believe we have so many stupid people in America. Joe
Sadness The only thing that scares Americans more than a black man, is a smart woman." - so true. It is a sad day to be an American, but this is a beautiful post. Please enjoy your trip and be glad you are not here. Spread the love - show the rest of the world that Trump does NOT represent us. XOXO
You still don't get it and never will The blue collar uneducated workers of this country are going under! I find it unbelievable that because I have a vagina I must vote for the most corrupt candidate we have ever seen run because she is a woman. Jesus Christ that is insane. Our political system has turned into a corrrupt morass of elitist snobs who think we peeons can only be patted on the head in sympathy and then talked about in derogatory terms because we don't march in lockstep with those who know best. I also find it amusing that Uneducated people can be dismissed as unworthy and not to be taken seriously but many of those who help your party win, live off of those uneducated people who find themselves paying ever more taxes to support them. Tell the Indians to correct their own mess in there country and not worry about ours, last time I checked they can still murder a woman who goes against their wishes by marrying someone they don't approve of. How is that for women's rights. The next step I hope for is a true investigation into the Clinton crimes and for them to pay for those crimes like ordinary people would pay for them. Am I happy with Trump, nope but if he can break up the political machine that is so fucking corrupt then I will cheer him on. I am disgusted with his attitude toward women but I also believe that a huge majority of men in private talk like that. I helped elect Bill "cigar" Clinton because I fell for the line that the women were accusing him of rape or molestation were gold diggers and trailor trash, Hillary's words. It was the women's fault not his and the media played that up big time. The market is up 150 points. Nancy one of those uneducated deplorables.
Devastated I have no other word to describe how I feel today. I'm scared for minorities, the poor, the handicapped, victims of all kinds, and for women. I'm a complete mess today. I love you all, and hope you have safe travels and can enjoy your trip, despite this despairing news.
Camels I don't think they will let you take a camel home!
Whats K.S. doing without their number one fan? I assume your mother is cheating twice as loud. Joe
Memories Love the photos Vals! The overloaded truck brought back memories of the fantastic loads we saw on bicycles, trucks, carts and buses. Everywhere you turn is a photo op in India!! Nancy
Luggage Arrival Good News! On the sixth day of being in India, our luggage was delivered at Camp Bliss! We are now wearing clean clothes! Broke down and bought socks and 2 shirts in market.
Halloween and Diwali So, I was going to write you about the excitement at our house as we gave out candy to about 25 kids here in Redmond, Oregon last night. The girl dressed up as an I-phone, the maiden who wielded a plastic sword that made a sound of steel on steel when she shook it at you, the little guy dressed as a robot who had to take his 'head' off in order to see where to put his hands to get a kit-kat bar! But, I see you are distracted by the smoke and mirrors and bright sparkly things of Diwali!!! More seriously, this is amazing. Mom is visiting for a few days so I read and showed it to her this morning. Traveling mercies. DRB
