Geo: -33.9366, 25.5709March was a pretty adventurous month in the life of the Unicorn Princess, I experienced some snow and an American St Paddies day which turned into a very disorderly one. I also decided to surprise my dad for his 50th birthday by going home for a week which was definitely worth it after seeing his reaction. I cannot believe I have been here for almost half a year, it feels as though time is flying by way too quickly and I am trying to remember all that has happened and trying to catch my breath at the same time. I left to go back to South Africa on March the 24th as my mother thought that it would be a good idea to reunite the family for dads big 50 and I had other ... read more

Geo: 38.3009, -77.4591The last month has been a busy one. I started on a new health journey and so far so good, going after my goals one day at a time. Since Baltimore I have stayed local over the last few weeks, I helped my boyfriend and his roommate move houses, watched so many movies at the cinema that I feel like I am a local over there and went out of town as Eduardo decided to move an hour away from me. I experienced my first Super Bowl with my host family and they go as crazy food and drinks wise as the South Africans do for the rugby. I have also made new friends with German girls and I get to spend time with them in the week which is nice. The weather was ... read more

Geo: 38.485, -78.6253I have finally hit the three month mark in the USA and I still have no intention of leaving anytime soon. The last few weeks have been challenging to say the least but the adventures every weekend seem to make it really worth while. Every weekend we have tried to see a new place and as far as saving is concerned, lets just say that I'm rich with experience that you cannot put monetary value on.I have been hanging around Ritanas side of Alexandria as I am quite fond of the people there and I enjoy how we can throw ideas together and go with them. Two Thursdays ago, Ritana delivered some heartbreaking news that she might go home due to her father having a heart attack but by Friday he managed to pull ... read more

Geo: 39.9522, -75.1624I have had these great plans to travel the US but it can be so tricky trying to fit flights and bus trips in when you're working with kids. Lucie and I decided to go on a day trip to Philadelphia as it is only a 2.5 hour bus trip. We tried to see and do as much as we could in the five hours we were there. Google Maps is often a huge pain in the butt when you don't know if you're standing in the North, East, South or West direction (I was never good at Geography, so don't laugh at my lack of direction), so we ended up Ubering everywhere as it was starting to snow too. Philly is like a mini New York, thankfully not as busy and as smelly ... read more

Geo: 40.7528, -73.9853Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you wonderful people keeping up with my journey. Christmas in America was an incredible one, I got really spoiled and had an awesome, not-so-sober dinner with my amazing host family and their loved ones and they honestly went out of their way to make me feel part of the family. They included Ritana into the Christmas celebrations and after lots off eggnog, wine and laughter, I would definitely put this Christmas in my top 10 most memorable ones yet.The last few weeks have been incredibly busy! I have been to the coolest indoor water park called Great Wolf Lodge, in Williamsburg, Virginia and it was great to swim and inhale all that chlorine.Friday, December 30th, the girls and I set off on an adventure to the ... read more

Geo: 42.3585, -71.0596I know I have been really quiet over the last 3 weeks but things have become very busy. Americans take the festive season very seriously and the madness comes along with all the festivities. I spent my first ever American Thanksgiving in Boston and all I can say is that I've never seen so much food in one sitting than I did that day! My host family and their family went out of their way to make vegetarian food for me. One of my favourite dishes was the Pumpkin Pie- a famous American tart served with vanilla ice-cream. The weather was cold and wet but Boston is a really pretty place, I would definitely go back during the summer months but I would give winter a skip as the sun goes down at 4pm ... read more

Geo: 38.8905, -77.0863Week two, I have started to find my feet and I have gotten used to driving on the right side of the road. I am almost a person in the USA as I have an American bank account, now for my social security number and my drivers license and I will be a full person here!Last Sunday was the opening of the season here, Lucie and I went off to National Harbor to see some fireworks and go on the gigantic Ferris Wheel but it was unsuccessful to say the least. We decided it was way too cold to take the ferry across the river, little did we know that it was heated inside, we took an Uber to National Harbor and got stuck in crazy traffic, so we ended up seeing the beautiful ... read more
