March was a pretty adventurous month in the life of the Unicorn Princess, I experienced some snow and an American St Paddies day which turned into a very disorderly one. I also decided to surprise my dad for his 50th birthday by going home for a week which was definitely worth it after seeing his reaction.
I cannot believe I have been here for almost half a year, it feels as though time is flying by way too quickly and I am trying to remember all that has happened and trying to catch my breath at the same time. I left to go back to South Africa on March the 24th as my mother thought that it would be a good idea to reunite the family for dads big 50 and I had other plans to travel around the US but I'm obviously a fantastic daughter so I agreed to her idea. My dad was clueless the entire time which was surprising as you can never put anything past him. That whole week of being home wasn't a very sober one, I don't think there was even day where I didn't have a beer or cider in my hand.
I was also happy to be home 7 kilograms lighter as everyone got see how hard I've been working here. Time went by way too quickly but I was kind of glad as I was missing S.O on this side of the world, yes I am apparently very in love.
I got back to some Spring time weather and since I've been back, the weather hasn't been cold at all and it's making me the happiest as my good vibe feeds off of sunshine, no jokes as I was taking vitamin D as I wasn't seeing enough sun this Winter and I went from Winter to Winter so my body really wasn't impressed with the lack of warm rays. My favourite part about being here is seeing the evident change in season, I got here in the Fall and everything was orange, brown and dying, by Winter the trees were naked and days were short and now that its Spring, everything is so colorful (purples, reds, pinks, greens) it's honestly so beautiful and a definite change from Port Elizabeth where most of the trees are evergreens. I was kind of bummed as I missed the cherry blossoms in DC,they only
bloom for a week and a bit before they turn into green trees. I had to find out by going to DC to not find any cherry blossoms and the Americans (well my American) are all like "it's not really such a big deal, its overrated" but to a South African who doesn't see things like that, it was a sad deal not to see it. I am finally starting to get a tan, so yay to not being so pasty anymore and I'll give the luscious African sun credits for that one too.
Other than drinking on cheat days (Saturdays) I have just been out and about at the usual watering holes with my German friends and with Brenda and Eduardo. I guess I am saving up right now so that I can splurge during my travel week. in exactly 2 months from today I'll be 22 and myself, Eduardo and Brenda are going to Firefly Festival in Dover, Delaware (Google it so you can be jealous of the lineup), I cannot wait to write about that. I can't guarantee I'll post regularly as I am taking classes for my Au Pair credits for the duration of my April
weekends and I doubt it'll be life-changing enough to post about.
All my love and sparkles
