just got back from Prague at about 5am this morning! what an amazing city! it is very big and full of stuff to do. i think i like it best so far (excluding Vienna). a whole bunch of us went this time for our friend, Carly's bday. it is actually today...but we wanted to go to Prague to pre-celebrate. so carly, jessica, devin, nick, megan (a friend of carly's who is backpacking right now) and I all took the bus on friday morning and headed to prague. we got in the city at around 5:30 pm...so it wasnt a very long bus ride at all. the metro there is very simple and only has 3 lines so that was nice. our hostel was easy to find and we all shared one big co-ed room. this was ... read more

i cant believe i havent done anything in this blog for so long!!! i have just been crazy busy i finally got my europass in the mail and ever since then i have been travelling. i went camping a few weekends ago...it was awesome, but freezing. it was very demanding and hard, but totally worth it. i went with my friends nick and dragos. just the three of us. we camped on the friday night and then had to find a hotel the next night cuz we kept missing our trains (daylight savings time out here) and we didnt want to freeze again. we all were really dumb and didnt clear out a good spot when we camped so we slept on a ton of sticks. i was sore, kinda cranky, and wanted a bed hahaha ... read more

HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nda_OSWeyn8 that is my favorite video of all time and it involves this wonderful day!!! :) the past few days have been super relaxed and kinda laid back. i had my first class tuesday. it was my art theory and criticism class. carly and i are in it together so that is good. we can head to school together in the mornings. we walk about one block from our dorm and head to the Trolly station. from there, it takes us about 5-10 (depending on the traffic) to get to the U station closest to us. we all bought a week long ticket so we dont have to buy one everyday and we can save a few bucks. then we head downstairs and catch our tram to the VIC station (Vienna International ... read more

ok...so i heard that this winter has been the hardest and longest winter Vienna has ever seen. figures. i packed sweaters and only pants...but when you are outside all day just walking around, there is no way to keep warm! im tellin ya...this cold has been kicking my butt. it's exhausting! so the other night, we all went to a concert with adam and it was very cool. We saw Nikolaus Harnoncourt conduct beethoven? i think. we got there late, but the second half was really cool. its only 5 eros for standing tickets so that is really great. after that, we walked around trying to find some bar that some people were supposed to be at. we all got lost and accidentally stumbled upon Rachel Whiteread's sculpture! it is right in the middle of a ... read more

i find it really interesting that i can relate a ton of stuff out here to stuff back home in st. louis like the art museum back home is free on fridays and i spend a ton of time there. out here, there are hundreds of museums (vienna alone). i mean...coffee museums, war museums, art museums, history museums, torture museums, you name it, they have it. well we went to one today because it's free on saturdays. all morning i kept thinking that i was going to have my very own museum that i could always go to for free (just like home)....welllllll....it wasnt a very good museum. hahaha at least i went though. it's called the MAK which is short for something very long and very german so im sure you dont care. the entire ... read more

last night was awesome. shortly after i posted last night, i decided to just get out and go do something. there was a cocktail party at the bar in our main dormatory complex. i went alone and just figured i would meet all the other students (both webster and other students). i had myself a cheap long island iced tea and it was soo good! plus, i hadnt eaten at all (like always) and i think you can figure out what happened because of that :) i was just standing around and met a cool girl named Dominika from Slovakia. she speaks awesome english and we talked for a long time. the drinks kept coming and we all played pool, table soccer, and met a bunch of people that live here. so hopefully we will all ... read more
