Sarcastic and naughty,
I prefer written over spoken.
Straight forward and sensible,
I'd tell the truth but not all of it.
Ask and you shall receive,
Though at my own time.
Live life to the fullest
While not hurting anyone.

My nephew said that I can't possibly take pictures of fireworks at dusk. Since when does my shadow have a name? And do they call it incompetency? Has somebody changed my middle name to No Can Do while I was sleeping? The whole gang, including some people from NJ, spent yesterday in Atlantic City, NJ. I lost some gas money playing the slot. Playing the slot is an exercise in futility with small risk and minimal reward. You know what they say "No pain, no gain." Or "No blood, no glory." There would never have been a July 4th if it wasn't for a bunch of rebellious dudes signing that historic document in 1776. Do you think the forefathers prefer slot? ... read more

At 13,500 RPM my hands hum and vibrate at the speed of life. I am deep in the refinishing project at my sister’s house. My estimation says that there is another 1.5 week left of sweating and sanding. I should change my estimation for life has a way to stretch out when you least expect it. Up. Down. Move the ladder one bit at a time. Clean the goggles. Wipe sweat of your face. Shower. Eat. Get some rest before going back at it. Want to 'feel' life? There certainly is plenty of time to ponder about life as one perches on top of a wobbly ladder while reaching for that impossible spot. Life and the impossible...how else can I live?... read more

Quite a phallic symbol, isn’t it? This is the only lighthouse that I stopped for picture out of sentimental reason. I remember the last visit, 3 years ago, during which time there were three of us. We visited this one in between hang gliding lessons and walking the beach. Memory...it has a way of doing you in if you let it. After the necessary hygiene routine, I said good bye to the sandy beach and left the campground. Must find some coffee. Kitty Hawk, here I come.... read more

The thing about traveling alone is that it forces you to look at thing differently. It rained hard during the drive east until I came close to the coast. I have missed the reserved ferry ride this evening and now forced to camp here at Cedar Island. After checking in and paying $15 fee, I parked the van and checked out the toilet facility as well as the ferry that I’ll be on tomorrow morning. Living out of the van is an interesting experience. Officially homeless, I dined on French bread with salami and American cheese that I picked up at Wal Mart before leaving civilization. As the early summer evening by the coast providing plenty of daylight for reading, I cracked open a beer and settled down with a book. The morning came early but ... read more

We all had a good time at the going away party that Lilita organized for me. My only wish that I hadn’t twisted my left ankle. Will I be ready in time to go down the Grand Canyon? Anyway, we celebrated John’s bday, the guy in black and on the far right, after many people have left. Regina, John’s wife, is next to me and then Lilita and JP. Patrica and her beau flanking my right. In 4 more days, I will be leaving this town to start my cross country trip from the outer banks. The people that come into your life can be grouped into 2 categories: those you keep and those you don’t. Friends are the people you keep and they keep you. Those that don’t are just acquaintances.... read more
