WOW! I have a lot of updating to do, so bare with me. Today I was just hanging out at home when my host sister, Michelle, came up from the basement with two rabbits. They were so cute and she gave one to me to hold. She told me that she was going to the docter for the bunny to get its teeth cute because they were too long...I don't know if this is normal but I acted like it was. I went to Interlaken with three girls I had never travelled with before: Courtney, Ashley, and Roxanne. We took a six hour train ride and arrived in Interlaken around 10. We struggled a little trying to find our hostel. It was funny because we passed these two men one the street who over heard us talking about how we're kinda lost and they said "ask us, we speak English". Here's a few funny things that happened this week: This week I received a package from my parents : ) There were some yummy chocolate chip cookies in the package that I shared with some people at school...everyone definitely appreciated a treat from home. One kid proclaimed that the cookie "tasted like America". This was pretty funny, but so true! I guess we're all starting to really miss some things about home (like skim milk because they drink 3.5% here). I offered some cookies to my host family and they enjoyed them as well. Wow I love Amsterdam. It’s so beautiful with the canals and the town houses...and they people there are friendly which is nice for a change! I went with another girl and guy so it was nice to not have too many people to travel with (it gets very complicated with too many people's opinions). We arrived around 8:30 on Friday evening and despite our sketchy directions from the hostel, we found our way there. After checking in we went to find the red light district. Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I figured that during the week I won't update as often because I'm just going to classes, but I'll try to mention anything interesting that happens. Last week was farely relaxing. I went to teh gym a few times, and thast definitely an experience. I've seen only one woman there the three times I've gone and she's older and looks like she should be in an eighties jazzersize video. Yesterday right after class ended I went with a group of girls to Trier, Germany. It is right near the border and it was only 6 Euros round trip ticket! (We have Jumbo cards that allows us to not have to pay for a train/bus ticket ever in Luxembourg). Trier was a huge shopping place (even my host mom said so). Its all cute shops along the cobblestone side walks and open areas with people everywhere. Ii'll give a quick recap of the past few days: On Tuesday night me and my friends went to Lux city. I got a feel for the train system and how to get around. Other people ride the train/bus to class everyday, but since I walk I haven't gotten a hang of things yet. Today, like the title says, was our first day of classes. By the looks of it the semester shouldn't be too hard. Other than that two exciting things happened today: Our luggage came AND my name got picked in the raffle for a cell phone! The cell phone will save me a little bit of money b/c I won't have to buy a new one. Wow, I've done soooo much the past few days so I'll try to not get too detailed. On Friday we had orientation in the morning and after lunch we got on a bus and visited two cemetaries from WWII, one American and one German one. Then we went to Luxembourg City and did a walking tour. It was an hour and a half long, so needless to say we were all freezing by the end.
