I'm planning a four month trip to the Philippines and am looking for some out of the way places to visit. Not into the large tourist spots, but nice beaches and good food.

It's raining today, one of only three days of rain since I arrived on New Years Eve. It's a good day to catch up, but where do I start??? I got bored up in Angeles City and bought a plane ticket and flew to Cebu on the 17th of Feb, about $50.00 round trip out of Manila. Nice clean city compared to Manila. While I was there I met Nathan at the sideline bar. He's an Aussie and we ended up hitting it off. We were having a couple brews one evening and he said he was going to Bohol so I tagged along. We jumped the ferry on the 24th to Tagbilaran, Bohol, P520 then a ride over to Alona Beach, Planglao Island. It's been non stop action since arriving. What a paradise!!!!! absolutly beautiful ... read more

Well, I have been thinking about how I was going to write about my bus trip to Sagada from Baguio. I'm still not sure, but I guess a good anology would be this" the bus drivers of both GL bus, and Lazardo are all Crazy!!! It was a 6 hour death defying trip that had my ass puckered trying to hang onto the seat the whole way up and back, through the 180-190 degree switch backs, with 1000-2000 foot vertical drops the whole way!!!!! What ever those guys are paid isn't enough. If I had only know what I was in for, I would have hired a car and driven there myself. But NO, I had to ride the local bus!!!! I know that if you haven't experienced this, you probably won't believe that a simple ... read more

Ok, so by now you must have noticed that I'm not a big one for museums, churches, etc, but my trip to Baguio was spent walking the streets and visiting the Orchidarium, and if you don't like flowers, just click out of here. The trip to Baguio was again on Victory Liner for P232, with Air Con. I booked a room at the La Brea Inn right on Lower Session Rd, for P1100 a night. Great staff, right in the midst of all the action in Baguio. Nice clean room with hot water!! Very important if you haven't guessed. I spent 2 days here before my trip to Sagada. Here are a few pic's of the flowers at the Orchidarium, and yes they are not all orchids, or maybe they are. Next stop Sagada!!!!... read more

Well since my last post, I spent 5 days in Manila, and two weeks in Angeles City. While in Manila I stayed at the Stone House B&B, E Roderiquez St, Quezon City. It was adaquite for my needs, clean room, hot water and good staff for P1100 night. I saw some sights and did the MS Mall thing including the Mall of Asia, right on the Bay of Manila. When I left Manila, I rode the Victory liner to Angeles City for P230. Nice ride with Air Con. When I got to Angeles, I checked into the Woodland Park Hotel, which is a very nice hotel off the beaten path with a very nice, large swimming pool. I would recommend this place to any and all wanting to visit Angeles. Price started at P1330 for a ... read more

Here I sit at the Stone House B&B in Quezon City, Philippines, , just watching the traffic go by (and sipping a cold one). My travels so far have gone good, well kinda. I left Iowa on Sat the 28th of Nov, headed to San Antonio, Tx. to see Kristen. I got to spend 8 days with her before she's off to England. Had a very good time, mostly eating Mexican, and some great Cajun catfish. After hugs and kisses, said goodbye headed north west. Was going to stop into Denver to see Pattie, but the weather wasn't too good and headed straight west towards New Mexico. There was bad weather all over and almost got stuck in Gallup, NM as the roads were covered in ice. Went north from there and did get stuck in ... read more
