Sunday found us heading towards Hopewell Rocks (https://www.nbparks.ca/en/parks/33/hopewell-rocks-provincial-park) to walk on the shoreline underneath the rocks once the tide was out. The ‘fastest directions’ brought us to Highway 114 in New Brunswick; a windy, crater filled badly, lumpy one lane each way road that really only should have been a 60 km/h maximum instead of the posted 80 km/h. I’m sure the funeral homes in the area got their town council to raise that to 80 km/h since they wanted more business! We kept it to 60 km/h in the good parts, but mostly crawled like a slalom course at 45 - 50 km/h. We arrived around 12:30 and found a parking spot in the RV section of the parking lot. We were able to bring out the BBQ and I cooked up some hot dogs ... read more

Another great sleep last night. It was windy, but comfortable in the ol’ RV. We enjoyed a breakfast of bacon ‘n eggs (fake bacon for Shelley), coffee ‘n tea and then got ready for the day. We lazed around the campsite in the morning. I enjoyed a pipe with my coffee and did a bit of reading, then actually got in a cigar as well! That’s quite the morning. Afterwards, we decided that we would drive the 37 minutes (according to the GPS) to get some gas and a few supplies. Little did we know that about three minutes up the road from our campsite is a little village of Alma with a Gulf gas station, general store, hotels, and PLENTY of ‘lobstah’ shacks and places to eat. We were thrilled since we had it in ... read more

We woke up from a great sleep. We had our showers in the shower/washroom pavilion and it felt like heaven; especially for Shelley as she’s been using the little shower stall here in the RV - which is fine - but NOT as roomy as the shower this morning. And talk about water pressure! Lol. After that we had some breakfast, simple toast with peanut butter and coffee/tea. Then out for a little stroll. We walked to the Amphitheatre near our campsite as the path there leads down and to the road where we follow it along to the Salt Water Pool. On the roadway we saw what we thought was a rock in the middle but turned out it was a toad! It was so big. It made me remember the times as a kid ... read more

Shelley and I crossed the border at Calias / St. Stephen’s, New Brunswick. We immediately felt relief at the change in highway conditions. Even though the rain and wind were still present, the highways were wide and gracious to us! So much more open and wide, 110 km/h maximum speed (we didn’t go that fast, but cars were sure enjoying that!). We headed to Saint John’s where we stopped at a Sobey’s to pick up some more vegetarian friendly foods for Shelley. The place we stopped at in Calais didn’t have much in the way of good groceries. Due to the Bird Flu taking place, we were not allowed to bring raw chicken or eggs over the border from the US to Canada. There was a Beer and WIne Store next to where we parked in ... read more

Shelley and I departed Hadley’s Point Camp Grounds yesterday. Taking Highway 3 into Ellsworth for some light shopping and supplies refresh before heading back into Canada. We stopped in at TJ Maxx for a little shopping, then over to the LL Bean Factory Outlet. The Outlet was fantastic; Shelley liked that all the clothing was actually organized into sizing properly - nothing was just shoved together Willy-nilly for her to sort through. Refreshing. I found some more clothing items and we even picked up a little flotation device for Maggie to wear when we are boating or kayaking. Departing here, the directions took us up Highway 3 and had us turning right onto North Street. North Street, as it turns out, is “highway” 179 - a small two lane (one lane each direction) that sloped from ... read more

We woke up to the sound of rain this morning. Shelley prepared some coffee and tea for us (I’m still enjoying the “Chock full o’ Nuts” I bought in Middleborough that first day. Time now to fix up some breakfast and review the maps. Maybe walk over and grab a shower. The weather was really unsuitable for anything today except for a fine day to ‘stay in’. Other than the odd walk to the little store here for some change for the shower, and to do some laundry. I crawled up into the crawl space above the driver’s area and took a nap (two hours!) and Shelley ‘n Maggie slept on the bed and watched Simpsons! We’ve opened up the bar, and I’m trying out a small bottle of Jameson’s Black Barrel with Shelley enjoying some ... read more

We woke up this morning and prepared to leave Middleborough for Bar Harbor, Maine. We intend to stop at the Kittery factory outlets, and then make our way to the L.L. Bean factory in Freeport, Maine. Stopping for gas in Wrentham Massachusetts. 35.007 gallons at $4.999 cents a gallon for a total sale of $175 US. Once we reached Kittery outlets, we discovered that they are spread across a great many blocks. We park the RV, and Shelley rested a little bit with Maggie while I went on ahead to check out the Barbour, and Orvis outlet stores. The selection to choose from was ‘okay’, but the sizing availability and pricing made it not as sweet a deal as it used to be a number of years ago. I can remember the relish of delight when ... read more

So we decided to head up the highway to Cape Cod. We were going to aim for Provincetown as it was up the Cape quite a way, but then decided on Hyannis instead since it was just under an hour of travel for us. Good decision. We arrived in town, and we were following the directions when the GPS hiccupped and I continued going straight instead of making a right turn. We ended up at Keyes Memorial Beach in the town of Barnstable. We found a large parking lot right next to some beach access. After we parked the RV we gathered Maggie and walked up onto the beach. The sand was thick, heavy, and compared to Florida’s, it had a bit more grit. We ambled up to take in the vista. I turned my head ... read more

Woke up this morning; both of us parched. We need to drink some more water before heading to bed….last night “I” kept a water bottle next to me to sip on when I woke up in the night (Shelley will do the same tonight). I decided on trekking over to the main lodge which wasn’t far away to have a shower in the facilities there. Shelley braved it and remained here in the RV to try out the shower stall here. She’s just finishing now, so we’ll get a report soon. My shower was in the men’s washroom and change area located beside the pool. Camp staff were cleaning the ladies area, but the men’s was free for me to start using. They have those combo stalls; an area with a large overhead shower head separated ... read more
