Another exciting trip Dear Ann Marie,
Sorry I have been late adding my comments, I read your article the day it was posted on my email, but just now getting to respond, of course I would rather read about one of your exciting trips in Asia, or where ever, but you describtion of Detroit and Chicago are funny and interesting to read. Its sounds as if you are getting a good taste of American culture with the amusement parks and all of our junk food establishments,,,just be careful you don't lose your nice Asian figure if you eat to much of the American foods. Fall in the North is nice but soon winter will be there and you will experience why they call Chicago the windy city, very cold. I still think you need to move to Atlanta...I'm teasing. AS always I enjoyed reading your blog and looking forward to the next one. Stay safe and keep writing.

I'm glad to see your "lost" blogs are restored. This is valuable travel-journalism! Look forward to seeing your latest entries... there's a lot more to Chicago than I thought!
@Ralph Thanks for always visiting my blog, Ralph! Travelblog.org crashed for days, as you said, and they lost my latest entry i.e. Moving to the Burbs... glad to find it cached in their server and they say they will recover it ASAP. Geeez! My face turned white when I realized one was missing! Too bad for the others, they have lost 11 or more!
Scenic Chicago Nice set of photos... I just love the way the colours look, esp blues of lake + sky! you have an eye for a good picture. Interesting sights of Chicago, they seem to be very creative folk. Best of luck, keep the blogs coming!
Ralph
@ska8r_angel03 Yah I wish we had more time to stay. Hopefully next time, I get to see Initao again and get to know the people there! Thanks, I am happy enough to know that my personal take on this trip was worth your time.
i grew up in initao i grew up in initao, you should've stayed a little longer and you could've meet a lot of your relatives and realize that you are related by blood to almost everybody in town. My mom or my aunts probably knew your father, its always the case here...anyways its nice to read something personal about my town, i miss it there.
Michigan & Detroit I remember the first taxie ride I took in Detroit, from downtown to the airport. It was a hot July day, the taxie cab had on AC, the inside roof was bare rusty metal. I thought what a first impression of the motor city. Annie as always your blogs are great I enjoy reading, I found Detroit to be a dirty city and was happy to leave, but I found the state of Michigan, especially the northern areas to be so beautiful.
hi annmariemarie!
my friends and i (that's 4 people) have a trip to cdo-camiguin set for july. your travelog has been most helpful.
i know it's been a year since your trip, but could you give us an estimate of how much you spent for the 2-day ecotour? i'd be contacting the domExplorers for this but we'd just like to have an idea before we do. thanks!
(and, if you've any more tips, like, where to stay w/bruising your budget--send it our way pls? we're such amateurs. thanks much!)
Micronesia Mall Glad that you enjoyed your Guam visit. When you return be sure to see the largest shopping destination in the western pacific, Micronesia Mall. It is 4 times larger than K-mart, has 110 stores and the islands biggest food court. It is home to macy's and an indoor amusement park complete with a roller coaster. You can check out a live webcam at www.micronesiamall.com Hafa Adai
amazing race hi girl,

hoping for your quick response.

@Ralph Thanks Ralph!!! Thanks for consistently reading updates in my blog. I always look forward to read your comments. I have already started working here at Downtown Chicago. Will update my blog soon... hopefully very soon because I've been sooo busy...
Fierce! That's a fierce-looking tiger! Loved the pics and the excellent narrative, as usual. The 'Chase' would be funny if it wasn't so scary... don't forget, safety in numbers! Great tour across the varied landscapes of Detroit and Dearborn. Makes me feel as if I was there! Keep it up and take care!
@imorena Yah Pansukian is for people who want to be pampered I heard, hence the pricey rooms. You may want to try Villa Ernesto where were stayed at. They're relatively cheap but you will need to rent a boat to get to the nearest surf site such as Dako. If you want to go to Cloud 9, you will need to hire a motorcycle. I still suggest Ocean 101.
siargao Thanks for that. A couple other foreign friends are joining. Also into surfing so that will be interesting. Do you think that there are many backpacker places we can stay for cheaper value? I've seen pansukian and it doesn't seem to be too friendly on the backpocket.
Michigan countryside It's nice you're seeing another side of Michigan... away from the hustle 'n' bustle of Detroit! I'm sure the wide open spaces and rustic farmlands make a welcome change to your usual routine. You made some good observations about Ann Arbor, University Town and the traditional aspects of life there... keep exploring and keep us posted!
Pastel not a Cagayan de Oro delicacy As the box itself states, it is Camiguin Pastel. It is originally from Camiguin Island. Ham and chicharon from SLERS are the known Cagayan de Oro pasalubong including cashew nuts. Visit the Cagayan de Oro tourism showhouse in Bonifacio Park, Plaza Divisoria.
siargao @imorena: Thanks! The best waves are in General Luna or GL. Cloud 9 is there where last year's International Surfing was held. I have seen Ocean 101 you can try it out there. It's owned by an Australian.
siargao Interesting blog. I have heard so much about Siargao and am just about to get my arse in there this May. Any suggestion which place is the best to surf? and stay? I like the beach of Bitaug..
Toronto is only 4.5 hrs by car. Are you planning to visit your relatives?
Salad King, Greek Town, CN Tower and Centre Island are all waiting for you. By the way it's called Salad King because they are well known for their mango salad.
home sweet home when i saw your blog and read it i missed my mom right away. heheheh.
im at manila right now working in a call center here in ortigas. im always proud of being an initaonon even to my classmates during my colleges days. even im in manila now still there's no place like initao. im happy for you ann marie coz you did visit the place where your ancestors came from and thats a good thing to do. for all of us we need to know where we came from in order for us to know where we go.
I believe that the world is a beautiful place no matter how bad the daily news gets. I want to see the world with my own two eyes and meet people from all walks of life. I weave big dreams but I find joy in the simplest of things - the blueness of the sky, the cry of a helpless baby, the sound of the waves crashing against a rocky coastline, tea, bread, and 70% chocolate! I believe in the circle of life and that what I do today may somehow make a difference in this world we share.I am a young IT professional and I feel blessed for having the opportunity to see parts of the world... full info
