I started this travel year on the sixth of november 2005... India was the lucky destination to start my trip... I passed Sri Lanka and went back to the country that I carry in my heart as a treasure. In june I enjoyed Peru and during the months july and august I was taking some rest in Ecuador... I surprised my friends, Annemie and Kristof, by showing up on the marriage and I ended my trip in compagny of two of my best friends, Ellen and Geert. I whiped a tear away on the 1st of October 2006 during the flight back home. We travelled three weeks of september in the states of Rajastan, Delhi, Agra and Himachal Pradesh... It was amazing ....

I am "back in town" since last octobre, and restarted my work ... found a nice place to live and restarted my life again... seems that nothing has happened but I know better... I miss my life as a "globetrotter" every day and so I keep on dreaming...

and then the unexpected happens... I'm leaving on sunday for a three month trip to Vietnam!

Xin Chao... three months of working at LIGHT and SHAPC, did me dreaming of white beaches, palm trees and the wind in my hair on the scooter... I heart so many stories of beautiful places at the central part of Vietnam, that I decided to check it out myself. only ten days, more than 2000 kilometers... I made Hue and Hoi An as bases to explore the surroundings and shoot myself into the time with Professor Barabas' timemachine... I met wonderfull people on the way, Vietnamese but also foreigners ... I got touched my the beauty of the Vietnamese countryside, but also by the bloodcolored history... so many impressions, too much to write them all down and as an image expresses more than a thousand words... I am showing you "my Viet Nam" as I saw ... read more

HI, I am back from my trip to SAPA, Vietnam's most important and most famous hillstation... my colleague went there last year for her honeymoon, I met another colleague at the market in Sapa, and we weren't the only tourist there... So just to persuade you that this is a very touristic town.. The main reason are the ethnic minorities who are still living ina "traditional" way...although it is not really clear for me if that is still the case or only for the tourists! Hanoi-Lao Cai: 11 hours Lao Cai-Sapa: 1hours and a bit more The softsleepers were sold out, so we made our way to Sapa bumping on the hard wood of a hard seat at the nighttrain... I travelled in compagny of one of my housemates, John ( Ireland) and he was so ... read more

hey everybody, I have to start with an apologize cause I don't have much linguistic inspiration for the moment... I am too buzzy with my project of a documentation corner, ( I will tell you later about that) But I don't want to keep my pictures that I made in the peacefull valley of Mai Chau... so just a short story... Mai chau was on my priority list since the beginning... if you know me a bit than you won't be surprised that I was immediately excited by reading " get a real experience by staying at a stilt house with the local family"... last friday I finally "created" some time to get this experience... The yourney from Mai Chau was a challenge and a test for my patience and survival skills... first the bus, then ... read more

hey everybody, a severe cold was almost killing me last thursday, so it wasn't a bad idea to purify my longs with some fresher air... after a great "farewell" evening for Xavier and Jenny, Ione and I decided to catch the bus to Ninh Binh, only 90 km south of Hanoi... in belgium this would take less than an hour to reach... (un)fortunately this is Vietnam... always same, same but different :) And what started with the 2 of us, ended in a great day with Becky, Thobias, me, Ione, the Aussi and the american... It sounds easy, "take the local bus to the busstand and from there you catch another bus to Ninh Binh. Every 10 minutes, one is leaving" That's what we did... and so we were waiting in the bus that the nervous ... read more

I started my voluntary work on Monday the 2nd of June. My mentor Duong was picking me up at my house to join me to my office on the other side of the city. The plan was to introduce me in the bussystem of Hanoibus cause that is the way I will go to the offices every working day. With the map of Hanoi in our hands and some money for a ticket ( 3000VND for a ticket which is € 0.111111111111111… ) we felt ready to conquer Hanoi… what a failure… first question where is the busstop… then where is the busstop for the bus that I needed… another one was when will the bus pass… how do we get on that bus and how do we get off… damn it, more than an ... read more

hi everybody, This morning 10.15 am local time, my feet set a step on Vietnamese sole... immediately a hot and wet wind was welcoming me ...pfiew huuuuge difference with Europe! my trip was long, but traveling with Thai Airlines is definetely in style! deliciuos food, nice stewards, lots of space ( I had three seats for myself and legspace for my 2 meters legs hihi) and a fresh flower to welcome us in Asia... never felt more welcome than here. I had to make a stop in Bangkok, and that is probably the most modern airport I have ever seen so far! Strange architecture and very zell commercialised, it is a hard challenge to pass all the shops on the way to your gate without buying anything... except for me, cause I didn't had any Thai ... read more

hey, Belgium seems to be cooler than I thought... hihi... On saturdayevening we took a train to Brussels, where we were picked up by a french fool and a romanian single guy , made a stop at the local nightshop of Halle for Johny and drove all the way to "the south", or la Wallonie. We arrived in Spa to be sure that we would be able to withdraw money, and then there was the time to search for a place to sleep... a few options: the car, the bridge, a five star hotel, a treehut, ... sightseeing through the nice area of Spa brought us in Malme-die (hihi) where we felt down on the hard matress of the international youthhostel... hunger drove us to the citycentre of Malme-dy for a cheap kebap, but at ... read more
