Hello all, we have just arrived in Varanasi, India after spending 3 chilled-out weeks in Nepal. We really enjoyed our time in Nepal because it gave us the chance to do lots of new activities. Its a really easy country to travel around and we have been doing lots of touristy stuff. When we arrived in Kathmandu (after being driven by the 17 year old who had just passed his test!) we were surprised at how manic it was. There are little alley ways like in Brighton but they are not pedestrianised, instead they are jam packed with traffic including cars, [View Full Entry]

On our way to neighbouring villages
Hello all, this is our final blog from China. In the last few weeks we have had an amazing time travelling through South-Western China and Tibet. Our first port of call after Guilin was the city of Kunming in Yunnan Province. When we arrived it was a bit of a shock to the system as it had suddenly become cold and was no longer T-shirt and shorts weather. We used Kunming as a stopover, en-route to Dali in the North-West of the province where we got off to an inauspicious start. A tyre on the local bus we were travelling on [View Full Entry]

Chinese tour-group!
Hello all, its us again. Since we last e-mailed we have travelled for 3 more weeks around Eastern and Southern China and we are still having a brilliant time. After leaving Shanghai, we travelled to Huangshan in Anhui province, which was a 12 hour train journey away and is known for its picturesque villages and for the Huangshan mountain. After visiting so many big cities we hoped to experience peaceful rural China, however thats not quite how it worked out. On our first day we went to see two nearby villages called Hongcun & Xidi which were both listed as World [View Full Entry]

Hello all, hope you're well and everything is good back home. Last time we wrote we had just arrived in Beijing, we have now been in China for nearly 3 weeks so thought we'd update you on our Chinese adventure so far.................... Our hostel in Beijing was in a great location, 5 mins from Tiananmen Sq and right in the middle of a traditional Chinese hutong. These are narrow lanes bustling with street vendors selling everything from Dog Soup to Lizard Feet. There is a great atmosphere, as lots of local live here and pass the day by playing cards, eating [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone hope you are all ok we are still having loads of fun, really feel like our adventures have begun over the last week. Earlier we completed the final leg of our epic (130 hours in total ) trans-siberian train journey and arrived in Beijing. We have met a couple from NY and Peggy speaks Mandarin so we are very lucky as we all made our way to the hostel together. Obviously before we started the blog we looked at the footie scores, Andrew is in a state of shock but the bustling streets of Beijing will take his mind [View Full Entry]

Hello all, just a quick note to update on our first week of travelling. We arrived in Moscow on Saturday night where we met by a scary looking passport control officer. Managed to get to our hotel OK and then had a quick look around Red Square which is pretty impressive, especially St Basils Cathedral. My Russian G.C.S.E came in very handy for reading signs on the Metro, so a big shout out to Mrs Bowden. The Moscow Metro is incredible and has a range of communist statues and art-deco style decoration. The service was brilliant, puts London to shame and [View Full Entry]
