Wow
I was wondering how long you'd been living in China and looked up your arrival blogs for this stint :) I'm so glad you detailed your travel and quarantine experiences so well, because even though we lived through all this relatively recently, it already sounds so strange and cumbersome. I like the look of your 'bento box' quarantine meals :)

Local life
I absolutely love these pictures of local life we get in small villages. It makes me feel more connected to a place when I can walk through and observe people going about their day without us interrupting them in any way. And I agree with you, the areas have a very Hue / Hoi An Vietnamese feel :)

Village Life
It does add to the connection and the memories gained. Thanks for reading and commenting. :)

On The Highway

On the highway
We often visit the White Rabbit Gallery in Sydney which has been displaying cutting edge Chinese Art for many years. I will always remember my time in the Artists Quarter in Shanghai with Aspiring Nomad. You have some exciting images here, Nenene. I am posting some on TB's "Follow that Road" thread in the Photography Forum as they may be artworks but their symbolism is worth sharing. Check 'em out!

Thank you
I will check the thread out. I agree that they share the sentiment of 'follow that road'.

Sunburn
Sunburn is such an annoying part of extensive explorations in sunny weather. When I find myself complaining that it's too hot or too sunny, I ask the question - do you prefer grey skies and no sunburn, or blue skies and possible sunburn? Blue skies win every time! :D Your blue-sky photos are lovely!

Blue Skies
I need to keep that in mind when I grumble about sunburn in the future. I agree blue skies win.

You had me at noodles!
Fat noodle are also my preference. Now I want noodles again, as I did after the other blog of yours :) I like the idea of 'rewarding' people who litter with community service of 30 mins cleaning duty. They will probably never litter again! :)

Noodles
I may have just booked a return trip to Dapeng partly for the noodles, and also to see things I missed due to Covid closures. Public shaming is a great deterrent ;)

Heroes of the Revolution
Fantastic blog. Your street and alley scenes are stunning. Then one stumbles on this one. Words do not adequately express how inspirational this image is.

Thank you
It amazes me that it was just tucked away in a courtyard.

Oh to enter within
Fabulous pic invoking reflection within. I love wandering through ancient Chinese towns and villages. I have posted some of your fabulous pics in TB's "Doors, doors & more doors" thread in the Photography Forum. Check 'em out.

Getaway
I love how you caught such a complicated sounding network of public transport; I really think that catching public transport gives you an insight into a place that you wouldn't otherwise get. Those noodles look good! :)
20th February 2023

I am a public transport fan too for insights into daily life. Covid made things more difficult, now it's back to normal and simpler. I am contemplating a return trip, partly just for the noodles. :)

Photowalk
What a great way to get to know an area that you wouldn't otherwise have gone to. I agree with you - in a lot of cases the alleys are much more interesting than the main streets :)

Photowalk
Thanks for reading. It's something I will now look out for in other cities I travel to.

Adventures while it's still cool...
What a beautiful sounding hike. I have done the HK-Shenzen trip a few times in the past; but I never realised you could see HK from Shenzen!

My Favourite
It's so close but because of the then border closure feels so far. There are a few different routes and it's not too difficult.

Wow!
What a lovely trail. If you hadn't labelled your photos I would have sworn a couple of them were a partial view of Hong Kong Island from the peak :) I haven't logged into TB for a very long time, so just catching up on blogs now.

It's a great little trail and does look similar in places. Hope you are keeping well.
