Melbourne Cup The Melbourne Cup is pretty big here, and everyone in the office each bet a whopping $2 on the horse that came in third. We could have won something, but we bet that the horse would win first. Damn!
Hi guys! You know, I've never had any desire to visit a country where just about everything is poisonous, but reading about your adventures has really changed my mind!
I doubt that I will ever be able to do what the two of you are doing, but I am really enjoying vicariously living the experience through your blog. I can't wait to read about Asia!
What about the guy with Tourette's? Hi Guys, Just read your last journal. Thanks for the rap, I'm just surprised you didn't mention the guy with Tourette's we passed after lunch - he really is doing great things for our tourist image!! Once again, have a great trip, stay in touch and we look forward to reading more journal entries. Regards, Jen and Muzz
flashy suits, guys. Nick, you are barely recognizable in a beard. lol.
The signs you guys come across on your voyages crack me up. I never would have thought that they would have jellyfish on signs. It really is quite amusing.
Love, your cousin Stef.
Hostel vans... I was one of those hostel van drivers when I was living in Switzerland. Seriously, the backpackers are like game animals and the hostels compete for how many they can pick up at train/bus stations. Our hostel had me (the driver) at one end of the platform and "Rollergirl" (as you can imagine, a hottie on roller blades) cruising up and down the platform. Needless to say, the orderly Swiss didn't like random girls careening up and down the platform accosting their guests in an effort to a) stop and b) drum up business. So, we got banned to the parking lot. Good good whole wheat fun. As is your blog--I love it. Your trip is awesome and it's great you are having such an adventure (manholes notwithstanding). Happy (and safe) travels. Cheers, Jen
Hey, I just heard on the news that the volcano Sierra Negra on the islands there just blew, and tons of lava is spewing into the ocean. Good thing you guys went when you did!
Good Times Hey guys! Pics were amazing this time, glad you guys haven't killed eachother (Sarah, I don't know how you do it) and are having a great time. Does anyone else notice the resemblence between Nick and the frog? Scary...
Sydney and Beyond Gotta’ love the 'he said' 'she said' dialogue guessing of it all. Deciphering who actually wrote each paragraph/sentence/word is all part of literature. Maybe Nick should use Italics, and Sarah should just, keep up the good stuff eh? (HA!) :) My sister Chris lives in Sydney, coulda’ put you two up for the duration, but I'm sure ya' didn't want to impose...

Hey! Hey you guys! i jsut got the link to your blog from Oma, and i am so jealous of your adventures! it seems like you are having an amazing time, and please, keep having a good time =)
Sydney looks particularly beautiful, and I really hope that you keep having a good time out there in the world =)
Stef.
Yo Yo Yo! Hi Guys
Havn't been on your blog for ages and I couldn't believe all the stuff you've been up to! Your trip looks awsome and I wish I had hidden in your suitcase (or back pack I guess). Nothing exciting to tell of the work you so carelessly left behind. Having Shink in charge leads to some unusual briefings and non-stop interigation into your personal life at work. All in good fun! Cheryl has left us, so that was a sad day, but she's found the same work in Kelowna. Also, Thana bought a Mini!!! That's all for now from the RCMPizzle TCizzle...peace out dawgs!
J
So Jealous Hey Nick and Sarah! I'm glad to be hearing your stories so often. I must admit to being jealous, especially of your time in Oz. Don't forget to enjoy a XXXX or six for me when you go north! Miss ya here in Vancouver!
WWOOFing You're right, it is "Willing Workers on Organic Farms". I've only heard of it once before, on a rural household in Desolation Sound, B.C., but it looks like fun while travelling.
If you like the Didj, look out for an artist named "Xavier Rudd". I think he's from New Zealand, but he might be well-known in Australia, too. Seen any Cane Toads lately?
Cheers,
Jonathan
Creepy Baby Water I always thought it was made from Freshly Squozen babbies ;-)
Plop IS actually ok, and I'm resisting eating the last one I brought back from casa verde in Riobamba. My only regret is not tasting the Mini Bum, but hopefully Mike can bring some back in December :-P
Cheers,
Jonathan
You're Having Fun Hi Nick and Sarah, it sure looks to me like you are having the time of your lives. That's great. Just keep a full journal so that we can hear the whole story when we see you again. And keep trying that darn phone card! It would also be nice to speak to Sarah, Nick, just to be sure she is still there to guide you!LOL
Cheers from Windsor
Happy Anniversary Looks like you are having so much fun and learning/seeing so much! Happy Anv and glad you guys got to spend it where you met! Keep up the great posts and don't worry Nick...your leafs don't look THAT bad this year....their on the rehab program! You won't miss much! :O)
Like the braids Sarah!
Never claimed my dreams were normal... Hey Wife n' Weez. I had a dream about you two the other night... You had boarded the wrong boat... it took you back to Vancouver, instead of Australia. Funny thing; with Nick's positive attitude, he just said, "What the heck. Let's go for dinner!". Eager to hear about the funky foods of your travels. Take care. Tanya
CANT BELIEVE IT i cannot believe you didn't know what the santa monica pier was. It is practically a landmark. Also, the sheryl crow song was about the santa monica boulevard-not the pier. It's funny that just one month before you guys I was standing in the same spot on the pier-I even rode that ferris wheel.
Anyways, have a good time in Australia. Try to get a pic of a tazmanian devil!
Want To Trade Places??? So, you guys can come and stay here in Windsor and I"LL finish the rest of your trip for you...sound good??? Nick - we have Leaf TV!!! Glad to know you guys having an amazing time. Send me a koala from Sydney (or as Chris the spelling impaired would say, a "Qualla") Take Care...Talk to you both soon!! xo Wendy
Happy Anniversary Happy 1st Anniversary Nick and Sarah! What an exciting, interesting time you are having! We of the George Melville family are really enjoying your journals! It sounds like the "time of your lives" is now!
Sylvia and George
Creepy Baby Water?! Ok, so I wouldn't have believed you about the 'creepy baby water' if I hadn't seen the picture! Weird.
Happy Anniversary!!
Can you believe its been a year?! Wow and you haven't got sick of each other yet(that we know of). Just kidding! You guys are so great together its silly. Love you both, xoxo
