Well it's 48 hours since we last did our blog and we've done soooo much!!! After we left here on Monday morning we took the (right) subway to Ground Zero. Really hard to get our heads around just what happend on 9/11... the sight is just soooo huge and you can tell the effect it has on the skyline as it just seems to be missing something! There is lots of buliding work going at the moment. We went in to St Pauls' Chapel which has become a living memorial to what happend on that fateful day - there were so many people looking around the church, trying to get their heads around what happened. Well we've finally managed to find an internet cafe!!! We thought there would be loads but there's free wi-fi here so no one needs internet cafes! Doh! So we left Newcastle very early on Saturday morning after about 2 hours sleep!! We flew to Heathrow to connect to the flight for New York - we settled into Weatherspoons for some breakfast (Rob nearly had a beer!) only to realise that we were meant to be at the gate!! We gobbled down our sausage sandwich and granola/fruit/yogurt combo (can you guess who had which?) and made our way to the gate. We are starting to get very excited about our long awaited trip around the world! its hard to believe that we are going to be in New York, New Zealand, Sydney and Singapore!! such a weird thought!! the hard thing is knowing what to see and do... we have planned various things but we want enough time just to take it all in and absorb the culture and the scenery and all that comes with being in different countries around the world! ... read more
