Homeward bound 8 countries of South America in six months...well done. To bookend it with Torres del Paine and the Equatorial Rainforest...sensational! Guess you won't miss this fella!
Homeward bound Thanks, Dave. Yeah he was a hairy fella, bout the size of my hand, and they say are harmless but can nip... I didn't want to test the theory. Thanjs for the comment, and all the best, mate. Alan

Don't want it to change I'm happy for the people of Cuba for many reasons. The future is looking bright. I hate that things have to change because the country is amazing the way it is but change is inevitable. Havana and Trinidad were our favorite towns...so rich in history. Loved the music. We were there for New Year's and it was great fun. Your words have captured the essence of this lovely country and people.
Changing times in Cuba Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it. Yes, change is a double edged sword. Some young Cubans I met are desperate for an end to their poverty, by whatever means, which is a bit scary... like you, I love Cuba as it is and shudder at thought of chain fast food in Trinidad or Havana. Safe travels. Cheers, Alan
Changing times Thanks so much for the comment, Renandrew, you will love Cuba, if you love music, history, cool cars, dancing, chaos, laughter... it's unique, and worth the effort, cheers Alan
Colorful Cuba I so enjoyed your evocative writing that brought Cuba and her people to life. You've portrayed an amazing, resourceful people who've created beauty and joy in the face of overwhelming poverty. Many of the doctors and nurses working in extremely poor, rural areas in various South American countries are from Cuba--what a great export!
Cuba Thank you so much, Taracloud, it was lovely to read your comment. And what a great point you make; if Cuba is exporting doctors, what a wonderful thing it is. Another reason to love the Cubans. Cheers, Alan
Congrats WanderinAl! Congrats on your award for Blogger of the Week! It is great honor awarded by the very best of the best who invest so much time keeping up with TB blogs! Keep up the fascinating writing which allows the ones currently not on the road a chance to hike along with you!
Thanks Playagal Thanks so much for the positive feedback. I love writing about the experiences of travel and don't really expect too many people to see my ramblings, but it was humbling to get your message., cheers Alan

Costa Rica My comment comes from a cold and snowy Switzerland where I've just read your entry about your trip in Costa Rica and enjoyed the lovely foto's. Drake Bay and Monte Verde are lovely places of which I keep very fond memories.
I hope you'll have a lot more of that during your trip and I 'll wait for new stories.
have fun!
