side note from an earlier blog Hey Victor,
You asked about israel with stamps from other countries on your passport. You can expect a very through questioning of 3-6 hours but probably won't give you an anal probe.
Hope that helps,
Brandon

In reply to previous comment I have a white-man superiority complex because I dare criticize chinese government? Funny in the quote you took from my blog I also criticize russian governments and european imperialists (which include the people who came to North America to establish themselves, killing most Indians in the process) which makes your point that I'm criticizing only other "races" because I think "whites" are superior moot. I'll criticize everyone who I think deserve to be criticized, no matter the race. Exempting a partiular race/country from criticism, as you seem to want me to do, would be racist.
As for your comment that I don't know chinese history. Well maybe not the official PRC story but I've read enough from independant sources, and seen enough to know that these area belong to Tibet and that Tibet doesn't belong to China.
"Tibet you say? Why do you claim to still be in Yunnan then? Well this is because when China decided to create "Tibet", they took away large chunk of it and put it in the neighbouring province. This way northwestern Yunnan, Western Sichuan, Gansu and pretty much all Qinghai (except maybe Xining area) is in fact Tibet. Mao had learned from the best (european imperialist and his buddy Stalin). "
Before making this non-sense, please take an hour or two to read Chinese history!!! And we all know how Canadian government has treated native Indians throughout the history. Please do not spoil the trip with your white-man superiority complex. Thank you!
hey victor! i've been following your journey off and on since you sent your blog and i'm glad to see it's going well (apart from you being sick a couple of weeks ago :/)
all the best!
-Christine
What's new? Hey Vic!
Seems like you've been pretty busy lately! I don't think you ever spent more than 2 weeks not updating your blog which I find really "complete" by the way ;) . I hope you're enjoying yourself a lot and that you'll write again soon!
Your friend Raphael
wow!
Sichuan opera Salut Victor !
Bonne continuation ! J'ai hate de lire la suite !!!
In my young times That's the kind of trek I did just to go to school when I was young!!! And without any boots with 1m of snow everywhere! Don't worry you get used to it after a while! ;)
Hehe. But seriously, that's really the kind of adventure witch will make your trip unforgetable. Denise won't like this, but sometimes you have to take some calculated risks to live something really high in emotions. That's the kind of story you'll tell your grand-childrens 1000 times when you'll get old and senile.
Continue the good stories your blog is amazing!!
Great! Ok, now I think I will travel to Yading next holiday. The sight is really nice from your photos. So I trustfully believe that
‘the most horrible place in China is the most beautiful place“. Does the experience really near death? But I think it doesn't matter for me.
I don't know where are you now. If you are in Guizhou. I think you can climb Mount Fanjing. It's a great challenge for a lot of peaple because of the ten thousand steps, and I remember I was tired to death that time when I reached the top after four hours. But the natural scenery on Mount Fanjing is of the same time spectacular, dangerous, pretty, strange and secluded.
enjoyed reading your blog Bonjour! i'm from the philippines originally but now settled in edmonton, AB after attending grad school in chemistry (like you!) from the US. it's been fun reading your experiences in my country. glad you enjoyed your stay. keep the posts coming. Au revoir! johnvillegas@yahoo.com
Good luck! Your experience in hard seat compartment must be unforgettable. The only time I got a stand ticket is half years ago, I leant against the sink for a while and sat on my case for a while all the night, and stick not to sleep on floor.:) Next time if you get a stand ticket again unfortunately, remember, go to the first compartment with you luggage or the last, sometimes there are some seats left for the next stop or the relative and friends of the car attendant. or you can go to the dining car, order sth and have a rest, if you are fortunate, you can stay there until you arrive. Good luck!
Sounds great man Hey Victor!
The people you meet along the way is what really makes the trip. Seems like you are meeting some great people.
And its nice to know you are comfortable enough to share with us your bowel movement problems ;-P
Be safe,
Brandon
ps.... you are correct in that in the mideast you should NOT talk politics
On t'aime tres fort. XXX Sylvie, Michel, Marie-Eve (Samuel est à st-Paul et te dit salut). Bye P.s. Marie dit que tu es chou avec ton tit pinch !!!ha ha ha.
Follow my adventures as I travel through Asia, the sub-continent, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe for a year or so. I'll be travelling solo, independantly and on a tight budget so it should be interesting.
There's been a little change in my itinerary. I cannot get a Iran visa as a Canadian so I opted to fly to Athens from Mumbai. From there I'll go through the Balkans in about a month before heading south toward Cairo overland.
I welcome any comments or constructive criticism.... full info
