Hey you guys...good to hear from you. I figured it was the cost thing. The art and architecture in Italy IS very amazing eh? Those guys could do wonders with a hunk of marble! :) Glad all's well. Chubby says "MEOW". Trust you guys to find the cat sanctuary!!
Love you.
wow this sounds great guys! I'm glad the couchsurfing thing turned out well and I'll be asking for your advice for using for the summer. happy travels!
Snow snow snow You're missing all the snow we have in Edmonton now. At least 5 CM's of the white fluffy stuff. Actually covers up all the icky brown slush on the roads for awhile at least. Have fun in Turkey. Can't wait to read your posts.
Cold! You are Canadians - you are supposed to be used to the cold! I shouldn't say that though - its been really warm here this winter - well so far - all the snow is almost gone too! Very brown and dreary actually :( Talk to you soon!
WOW Hi you two. WOW!! What a trip so far. So glad I got a chance to talk to you Christmas Day .. I miss you and would love to be backpacking with the two of you and experiencing your adventures.
Love you.

Hello Gorgeous!!!!!!!! i miss u soooooooooo much and i love u with all my heart. both of u. come home already. did u get my private message yet? write back. i love u!!!!!
hi ingina! thanks for the comments! we really did love rwanda and for sure plan to return! and thanks for the tip on "umunzungu" ... we had heard the word a million times, and knew what it meant, but had no clue how to spell it! (and we didn't mind it at all, it's like gringo in south america!). ;) happy travels!
Muraho!! Trevor and Kristena,
The above title means "Greetings!" in Kinyarwanda, the local Rwandan language.
"Umuzungu" means 'white person' and is not at all derogative, as many visiting people who are not black seem to think. It is usually used by curious kids who must give you a name when they want to greet you.
Meals and accommodation are not necessarily expensive, except of course in the expensive hotels. Outside the high-cost circuit, there are many locals ready to guide you to places that can answer to your pocket desires.
Rusesabagina is a Hollywood creation, a crafty fellow who exploited his position for financial gain during the genocide, and went ahead to seek out filmmakers to sell a fabricated story for more financial loot. It is now emerging that he is in cahoots with the genocidaires.
Otherwise, come again! The security and cleanliness you witnessed are set to endure, and indeed Rwanda is sure to be among the world's top tourist destinations.

Loooong Maybe I can read it later cause I gota get some work done now. :P. Nice pics though.
The pics are cool. It's nice how you can put some in with the article and then even more after it.

The Coldest Winter In Canada Hi my honey's
Just wanted to let you know the news report that said this will be the coldest winter across Canada in 15 years. I want you to re-live what you would be going through right now in Edmonton, the scraping and sweeping off the car, the wind chill bite on your fingers, burrrrr! Doesn't that make you feel good to know you are missing all that? We already had a huge dump of snow here in Abbyville, and then the next day it rained and it was all gone.
I got the X-mas decorations up, another thing you don't have to worry about this year. Where do you think you'll be for X-mas? When you come back I'll make you a big turkey dinner.
Love you lots ....Yo Mama

We are two liberally minded, non religious, officially homeless and jobless bums out to see the world! Our passports are good for a few more years and one can live for long time on Kraft Dinner - or the African and Asian equivalent!
We have decided that after 24 years and only ever leaving Canada once, it's time to jump off the deep end and travel the world. We'll hit up South America, Africa, Europe and Asia, and the plan is to just go with the flow and see and do whatever our little hearts desire! Departure is October 2007 and we'll return sometime in October 2008... full info
