Tucker - Tucker Poling

Tucker Poling I'm Tucker - you know this. I'm a human from Kansas, blah, blah, blah.
I'm in Instanbul, straddling the line between Europe and Asia for a month doing a study abroad program from KU Law. Justice Scalia ia teaching one of the courses, and as it turns out, Istanbul is the most interesting city on earth I've been to so far.

Aegean trip Middle East » Turkey » Marmara » Istanbul
The whole KU Istanbul study abroad group took an organized trip a couple weekends ago to Troy, Ephesus, and the Aegean coast. We went to Troy first. It was interesting, but there isn’t much there in terms of preserved ruins. But still it was cool to be there and see what is left. We stayed at a little hotel on the coast. I went for a swim in the Aegean. It is incredibly clear - the clearest water I’ve ever seen. The place where we stayed was a bit dodgy. It was a fairly remote area and the electricity was inconsistent. [View Full Entry]

That was a refreshing change from the other two Justices I met this year; both Thomas and Ginsberg were interesting, but guarded in terms of expressing opinions and discussing the inner-workings [View Full Entry]

Amandahanim and I got here on June 29th, 5 days before the start of the program. We stayed the first few nights in a hostel with an incredible view of the Bosporus, and now that the program has started, KU has put us up in a nice hotel a few blocks from Bacesiher University (i know i misspelled that but am too lazy to look it up). The university is in the banks of the Bosporus. Our first few days here were spent hanging out and seeing some of the major sights. The most interesting of which was the Aya Sophia.
