Sawatdeeka from Thailand! I am writing about my time in Thailand from last week. Sorry I am a little behind. I arrived in Bangkok after a short flight from Hong Kong on Thursday afternoon and was excitedly met by my cousin Jenny and her roommate Crystal! I was happy to arrive in Thailand because I have wanted to go forever. They live in a place called Thanna City not far from the airport and live in a great little 2-bedroom apt on the 4th floor. After being there for only half and hour we hopped into a cab to go to [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, Can I take a photo for you? This has been the key to meeting and connecting in conversation with fellow travellers-a great way to 'break the ice' so to speak, especially when travelling alone. The sweet deal is that the offer is reciprocated and I get photos taken of me for my camera so that I don't have to extend my arms to create my own self portrait of myself at a place. Yesterday, I took the MTR to Tung Chung station and got on the 21 bus to Tai O on Lantau Island. Lantau Island is located West [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, It has been a busy couple of days so here's my story about my trip to Stanley and views from the Peak. On Tuesday, I took the bus to Stanley. Or should I say I survived the winding roads to Stanley. After having a bit of trouble finding the bus station I was finally on my way at the front of the double decker bus to Stanley, about a 50 minute journey from Central in Hong Kong. The ride is bumpy, through winding roads, but the scenery en route is beautiful. There are high mountains that cascade down to [View Full Entry]

Happy early Hallowe'en

Hello everyone, Well I have finally arrived in Hong Kong. I left on Friday night as you know and pretty much missed Saturday Oct. 13 because of being in the air and the shift in timezones and crossing the International dateline. Before boarding the plane I got talking to a woman named Leanne who is Canadian but originally from Vietnam. We started talking because I noticed she had some tears forming in her eyes and I, feeling as nervous as she for getting this adventure under way, simply said..."I understand." This started a whole discussion about where I was going and [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone, I haven't left Canada yet, but I am leaving tonight for Hong Kong so I thought I would post a little message before I go. Welcome to my friends who are reading this for the first time! I hope you enjoy my stories, observations and photos as I travel. Not sure what the internet access will be so I will do my best. Hello everyone, Well we are back in London hoping to see the Queen this time. Her Royal Standard was flying as we dropped by but she didn't have her teapot on so we were refused entry for tea... may be next time. At least the Canadian Embassy let us in to send this message for free. Oh to be a Canadian! We have had quite a busy few days since we left the south of France. We headed north to Paris on Monday and stopped in Lyon to break up the long train trip. Lyon is a very nice city that [View Full Entry]

Bonjour tout le monde. This will be my last chance to update for a bit as we are travelling a bunch over the next bit before heading home. Today we ventured to Monaco making this our 4th country on our little 3 week visit... but getting there wasn't that easy. There were even a brawl between some men at the bus station trying to get on a bus because it was late... Nice! Any way, almost an hour late our bus arrived and we headed East again to Eze, a medieval town atop a hill. We walked through the backstreets and [View Full Entry]

Bonjour tout le monde. Here we are in beautiful Nice on la Cote d'Azur. Monday morning we boarded the train with our railpasses and headed south to Nice. We travelled on TGV via Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and then headed east through Marseille, Cannes, Antibes and finally arrived in Nice some 5.5 hours later. We had a great trip though. I started talking to a woman who was visiting her mother near Nice who soon realized we had never been in the region and on a train south in France for that matter that she started pointing out all the main attractions and [View Full Entry]
