Hey everyone, I am actually back in Canada now after a very long flight home on Monday night but I thought I would share stories about my last week or so in NZ so that the travel story is complete. My second day of teaching with Jacqueline in Balfour was a ton of fun as I got to share some songs and stories that we sing in Canada. We sang You are my sunshine using sign language, Swimming, Swimming in my swimming pool, And the green grass grew, and many others. It was great to support the kids as they did [View Full Entry]

Kia Ora everyone from Gore, New Zealand. I arrived in the south island at Invercargill after flying two planes one from Auckland to Christchurch and the other to Invercargill. After having a great time in Auckland with my friend La'au, I was looking forward to seeing how the southland was different from the northland. The scenery in the south is much more dramatic than the north. Green fields, covered with sheep, huge mountains with snow in the distance and winding roads everywhere. I was excitedly met by my cousins Jacqueline and Fred and the newest addition, my cousin Katherine. She was [View Full Entry]

Kia Ora (that's Maori for hello) from Auckland, New Zealand. I arrived here on Sunday afternoon after an 11 hour flight from Hong Kong. I enjoyed my last couple of days in HK and went back to my favourite market at Stanley-a fishing and market town about 45 minutes outside of downtown HK. I was sad to leave my friend Rachel but excited that I would be meeting up with another one of my friends from Grenada, La'au who lives in Auckland. Every day has been filled with lots of sunshine and great times as La'au has been showing me around [View Full Entry]

Xin Chao everyone! Well the sun finally shone in Hanoi after our 14 hour night train from rainy Hue. We started to joke on our tour that if someone ever asked if it was a good idea to visit Hue, we would all say No HUE! We did however have a great time at the Citadel in the Imperial City dressing up in period costume and getting our make up done and getting our photos taken. We were having so much fun and laughing about that th other tourists started takign photos of us! Our last night in Hue was fun [View Full Entry]

Xin Chao everyone from Hue Vietnam. I am currently in the old imperial capital and it hasn't stopped raining! Apparently the rain season is over in most parts of Vietnam, but Hue is the exception to the rule. This morning we took a dragon boat which really looks like a house on a barge down the Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda. Today is supposedly the Full Moon so we listened and watched as the monks chanted in the temple. There are 7 levels to this pagoda which follows the Buddhist belief that 7 is a lucky number. We then [View Full Entry]

Xin chao from Saigon, I have had difficulty getting to the email over the past few days and we have been doing a lot of travelling by different modes of transportation which has made it difficult to stop, pause, reflect and share. The last time I wrote we were leaving for Phnom Penh after a great time in Siem Reap at Angkor. We flew out of a very small airport in Siem Reap and had a short flight looking out over the rice paddies and overflowing Tonle Sap Lake. We arrived to at the New York Hotel to a street filled [View Full Entry]

Suoh s'dei from Siem Reap Cambodia. I have been travelling here in Cambodia with my Gap tour group for the past 5 days. We met up in Bangkok, Thailand. There are 2 people from Sweden, two from the UK, 3 from Australia (one from Tasmania), 3 Canadians (from Ottawa, Yukon and me), 2 Americans and one from Switzerland. All of us are professionals in different fields... many people just taking a vacation and for almost all this is our first time in this part of the world, more specifically Southeast Asia. I am among the younger part of the group but [View Full Entry]

Sawatdeeka from Bangkok again and more specifically Khao San Road. I have just met my tour group for the next leg of my journey to Cambodia and Vietnam and they come from the US, Canada, Australia and Tasmania, UK, Sweden, Switzerland and they all seem pretty cool. I am definitely part of the younger crew but all is well. For the last three days since I have been back in the Philippines, my cousin Jenny and I have been touring around Bangkok and out in the countryside. We went to a huge mall downtown called MBK and ate a lonely planet [View Full Entry]

Hello from the Philippines! We (Jenny, Crystal, Rose, Allyson-friends of Jenny's and I) flew to Manila on Saturday morning on Kuwait Airlines... I didn't think that would be a possibility but the flight was fine. This is the end of term break for Jenny and her teaching friends so I decided to tag along for the trip. Allyson's family friend Dolly booked our trip for us which has led us so far for 2 days on Manila in Quezon City. Some of you may have recently heard about a bombing in Makati; it happened before we got there and we were [View Full Entry]
