have you ever woken up in the morning to what sounds like a bunch of monkeys banging on metal sheets with hammers? I've always wondered what my reaction would be and now I can tell you, with out hesitation, what I do whenever that happens...... I take my shoe and beat it against the wall until I'm pretty sure the monkeys know I mean business. Something I've always wanted to see, even now, even since I was so rudely awoken this morning: I've always wanted to open a door and see a bunch of monkeys typing away at type writers. They have cigars in their mouths and green hats on, and they would be typing scripts for movies/ instruction manuals/ fortune cookie sayings. I can always dream. A little bit of news right now. It's official, ... read more

I just got back from Bariloche, which is right on the border of Chile and South Argentina in the Patagonias. It was in the mountains and surrounded a lake and had streets that ran up and down many foothills, which reminded me of San Francisco, only not as big. One of the crazier moments was when I went white water rafting. There was this great deal where you could go rafting, spend the night in the mountains, then go horse back riding the next day..... I definitely didn´t pass up the opportunity. We rolled up the mountain and flew down class 4 rapids all the way to the border of chile-argentina. When we got off the rafts, I looked up and saw a sign that said ¨chile¨on it. There were snow capped mountains above and ... read more

when the weather is good I like to walk and watch people walk with me I love to watch as people unfold in waves then disappear into the sea when people watch i smile and nod and they know i love to watch as well and maybe we´ll meet again later on when the ocean body´s swell when the weather is good i like to talk with anyone who´ll likes to hear and feel the sun come down and make every phrase I say more clear When someone talks I like to listen and watch every word as they speak as it fly´s high above and is caught by the sun and falls into the sea and waves rise high with and ebbing tide and brings them right back to me ... read more

you might think that a 14 hour bus trip across argentina would be a not so pleasant experience. I pictured a grey hound bus, with the driver telling me my music was too loud in my headphones, sitting next to someone that is either going to or coming from jail, maybe asking me if he can score some crystal meth. Wait....that was my experience when i took the bus from new orleans, to va. Here, the buses have 2 stories, seats that recline into beds and food and drinks served while you travel. It definitely made my day when i found that out. Now, mendoza is great too, I went to a winery called familia zuccardi and did some wine tasting, stayed in a really nice hotel for 25 dollars a night and hung out with ... read more

Man if I had come here when I was in 2nd grade I would have been the man! I´ve never seen so many guys with rat tails. Back in the day I loved my rat tail, it was glorious. I cut it off in 3rd grade and I´ve regretted it ever since, especially now. I just read an article about a neighborhood called "la villa miseria". It´s one of the poorest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and is supposedly very violent, but a certain type of music called "cumbia villera" came from this area and has grown very popular. There is a part of town called "la boca" that has musicians like this come and play at a bar called "blues special club". Tonight, an area called San Telmo has great music as well as my ... read more

I just moved into an apartment in the Palermo neighborhood. Three blocks away is a plaza called Plaza Serrano and, the first night we went, there was a drum circle going on. I was disappointed because I didn't have a drum with me. But it turns out there has been drummers and guitar players there everynight since I've been here. I bought a guitar for about 30 dollars and I've brought it there everynight. It's a great way to meet locals and, if you play enough Bob Marley, Bob Dylan and Sublime, it attracts Americans too. 1 liter beers are ten pesos (3 dollars) at a bar, or 3 pesos at the local grocery store. Last time I went, a street artist lit up some devil sticks and juggled them while they were on fire, ... read more

Hey everyone, I just arrived in Buenos Aires a couple hours ago after an 8 hour plane ride. It wasn´t a bad trip since right before, my buddy Chris and I had a couple drinks. When that wore off, I took one sleeping pill, I can´t remember the name of it, and it was off to dreamland for me. I grabbed three empty seats in the middle of the plane and don´t remember much after that except waking up when the plane touched down. Smooooth sailin.... Just checked into my hotel and I have a couple hours to kill so I´ve been practicing my spanish and checkin out the area. Steak dinners are 6 bucks here. Wine is 3 dollars for a nice glass. I can rent a motorcycle and check out the city for not ... read more
