Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Katoomba September 26th 2013

Woke up a tiny bit hungover today, went out last night with the hostel people who are so friendly. But wanted to head to the blue mountains so got up showered and ate then left with a few girls from my room at the blue parrot they are German, Chilean, and Czech. We took the train to Katoomba the little town where the mountains are and it took 2 hours. We sat in the quiet carriage but I don't think anyone noticed so they were chatting the whole way but I was soo embarrassed as I know how seriously they take it here because I have already been told off twice in the quiet zone! People didn't look very impressed with us. We walked down to the mountains and took the steep mine train down to ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Darling Harbour September 24th 2013

Finally starting to get used to the time zone here so just chilled in the morning yesterday. We are a bit fed up of all the walking so decided upon more of a chilled day. There was a bit of cloud in the morning but it started to clear so we went to Darling harbour to sit in the sun. The sun was really hot so I had a two scoop ice cream in a cone it was massive! We were really hot walking back so decided to dip our legs in the pool at the hostel. Ashley went to a boxing class in the evening but I stayed at the hostel. We had been invited to this food thing by some Danish guys in his room in the dining room, so I headed that way ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Sydney » Opera House September 23rd 2013

Arrived in Sydney yesterday on the train from Woy Woy. We checked into the hostel and left our stuff so that we could explore the city. We went to see the opera house and the harbour bridge and it was amazing! we sat and had a late lunch at this lovely cafe on the waters edge over looking both the bridge and the opera house. Then we continued walking round to the opera house to get a close up and have a peak inside the gift shop and foyer and to take more pictures. Then we had a beer at the bar on the edge of the opera house with the sunset almost behind the bridge. We walked back to the hostel watched movies and went to bed. Woke up this morning and had a hungry ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Bateau Bay September 21st 2013

Went to go for a walk yesterday but as I got dressed a cloud suddenly came over and it started to rain! So I decided to start packing a few bits ready for the hostel.. in the meantime the weather started to get nice again so I sat on the balcony in my shorts with some crisps enjoying the sunshine. The cockatoos (which I previously name parrots) came onto the balcony edge and started squawking at me, then Chris, Jacqui's house mate, came out and told me he was going to be having a massage in the lounge, so I said that I would get out of his way and head to my bedroom. He insisted that I stay on the balcony, so I did, however after around 10 mins it stared to rain again so ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Terrigal September 20th 2013

I went on the best walk yesterday; I walked all the way to the top of the hill on the peninsula called the Skillion it has the most spectacular views over the towns and the bays and is a really great place to do whale watching, sadly I didn't spot any whales. Then I walked from there back into the town and right along the beach to the other end of the bay, it took me about an hour to walk right the way along but the beach is beautiful and I was leaving my footprints in the sand! I stopped to watch the the surfers and someone fishing for something very odd.. it was almost as if he was trying to catch something in these little bags in the dregs of the water leaving the ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Terrigal September 18th 2013

I finally arrived in Sydney after the best flight from Singapore, it was an emirates flight but operated by Quantas, and it was a Quantas airplane. At first I was very disappointed in this because of the size of the tv in the seats and the planes was not as luxurious as the emirates planes I had just been on, however I was really tired from the previous flights to Dubai and Singapore as I had not been able to sleep on either as both times I had been sat next to someone who had no idea about personal space and kept elbowing me and kicking my feet!! So when the pilot came over the plane tannoy and said that there were lots of free seats but we had to stay where we were for take ... read more

Asia » Singapore September 16th 2013

This is my first entry... the start of my journey! I have made it to Singapore... not what I expected after coming from the clean tiled Dubai airport... Singapore airport is a bit hot and stuffy (although I did notice on the map on the plane on the way here that its very close to the Equator!) and it has granny carpet.. like the brown red green, spotty patterned carpet!! I am here for a few hours so going to have a shop around.. lots of Asian techno stores and kids toy stores... and on the other hand very expensive designer stores!.. Might try the food too but I am a bit worried because of the fish sushi situation! so I have spotted a subway.. nothing like getting a taste of the culture!!! Well my time ... read more
