barca Wow great post! I randomly came across this trying to find out if they served beer at Camp Nou. I'm from Victoria, BC and just got to barce last week and I'm here for a couple months. I know what you mean about how this is a place you would like to live, I have been here less than a week and I already want to stay! Good luck in your travels!
Well done! Thank you for publishing an honest account of your first experience of naturism. Your's is a pretty typical story and is how a lot of naturists first discovered how pleasant it is.
I particularly liked your challenge: "I would invite you to run a bath and climb in with your shorts on. Then, think about how much better it would feel if you were lacking shorts" and I agree with multiplying it 100 fold. You are right to say that something at first frivolous can quickly escalate to a serious question of identity - it challenges our prejudices and ultimately our perception that we 'have' to wear clothes. It pretty quickly feels normal not to, as well as more comfortable.
I'm guessing you are from America, so you might like to look up AANR when you return and find out how you can continue to enjoy naturism in the US. Best of luck on your adventures and have fun!
In search of summer European Destination I'm looking for a few places in Europe to visit with my 22 year old son, who is currently studying in England. He's visited Paris, while on spring break, but wants to return to France to see old friends he met. I've heard Nice is awesome and from your pics, it looks sweet! We were hoping to find some places in France that had some relaxing beaches... with any "tiki bars"?... And is there any nightlife that both young and old (I'm not that old!) would enjoy? Any other suggestions on other places you've been in Europe that would be for seeing the sites (nature and museums) and lots of pubs or cafes to relax as well? Also, if you have suggestions about Tuscany area for the same ideas, I'd love to hear them!! Have fun!
I must say Bev... the closest thing we had to a hot wing was in Marseille, at an Indian restaurant. It wasn't hot at all, but had the hot flavor you would expect. I don't think the hot wings have taken off in Europe... could be a good business idea.... the Europeans don't know what they're missing :)
Mmmm Well - again, I am enjoying reading all that you've written but I must tell you - that the expressions on your faces in the pics truly speak 1000 words for me . . and as much as I'd like to give you all 1000, I will share just a few - joy, excitement, contentment, "you're doing the right thing in this traveling adventure" (that's worth 9 if you're counting), , glowy (new word = bonus points which means counts for 8), love, pondering, . .. and the rest (which I believe is 980) I will pray you are discovering on your own :) . ..
And of course, which would be nice in Nice is a picture of french hot wings????????? or .. les wings chaudes???
xoxo and continue to enjoy the rollercoaster of adventures because that's what makes the journey a journey !!
!!! Oh Tammy - so glad you responded :) I hoped you would. Well said. And I agree with you; having a good life does not really rectify the bull fight. The reality is they could choose to allow bulls to have a good life and a natural death. But I suppose it is at the very least food for thought regarding the priorities of activists. Hope you had a blast in London!!! Talk to you soon.
Philosophy major? Great blog, Tim. Your question of whether it's worse to have a painful life or a painful death is a brilliant one, and I must say that a long drawn out life full of pain and torture is probably worse. Of course, this doesn't change my opinion regarding the flamboyant brutality central to the bull fight. Not surprisingly, I would argue for the end of bullfighting and the end of the "meat" industry (even this statement demonstrates our desire to separate "meat" from "living creature". It's not just an industry that magically 'creates' meat, it's an industry that depends on the efficient slaughter of living creatures for a profit. Then again, bull fighting operates on largely the same principle).
Hugs to you and Sarah.
OK - I am now convinced that you two are truly experienced enough to be on the next episode of Amazing Race !!!
Hope you're continuing to enjoy the journey - wet underwear and all!!!
Great posting! I'm really enjoying reading about your travels! What amazing experiences you're having! I'm also really into music, so I especially enjoyed this post! Thanks for sharing, and keep up the great writing!

Loire / Angers Your trip sounds wonderful - I recall this area well, and especially Mont St. Michel rising out of the fog .... haunting, and amazingly spiritual! I enjoyed walking up to the monastery and being encouraged by the restauranteurs along the way, to come in and sample their food. I recall settling on a restaurant that served mussels, swimming in a wine sauce .... heaven! Sorry you missed by monastery - I found that to be a hilight of my trip to France ....
Enjoy Paris!
Thanks! Corrections always welcome :) Thanks Tammy. In Paris this morning. we'll talk soon! Hey - what is your phone # these days? Can you e-mail it to me?
yay, Ireland! Hi Sarah and Tim,
Glad to see that you two have made it to the Emerald Isle. Thanks for posting such great blogs and pictures. I am living vicariously through you as I sit in the U of C library working on my thesis.
I just wanted to mention that you typed "London" in this blog a couple of times when I am pretty sure you meant "Dublin". I hate to be a 'corrector', but I thought I'd let you know anyway, in case you want to correct it for posterity's sake.
Cheers, hugs, and love,
Tamara (and Jonathan)
Ah, those photos bring back memories. I lived in that area in Dublin for 7 years.
I have to laugh at the coffee being great comment, on the photo. There used to be so many complains about the coffee in Ireland, that experts were sent around to bars and cafes to teach those who work there how to make it properly. Looks like the lessons payed off. :D
