Well, like great travelers, we talk about our plans for the new day. Today, it was simple...............more "beach" time - after a great breakfast, we spent the rest of the morning on the beach - sitting, walking, in the water! The sun and breeze will stay with us throught the rest of the Jersey winter. We checked out of the resort at noon and headed north and east - ultimate goal - Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan. Our "travel" plan was to follow the 115 to the 402, then the 2 until we hit the 22 and then stop in Bayamon, "El Pueblo del Chicharrón" (fried pig skin city). Our drive was smooth, the views great, more food on the side of the road, the reinforcement of Puerto Rican memories strong, and as ... read more

This was our planned "beach" day and were we ever lucky. Of course you remember that it is always 84, well............today, it was 87.............someone had to volunteer to live it and we did! The day started with a filling breakfast of Rincon Omelet (local sausage, green peppers, onions), home fries, pineapple, toast, and coffee. Well fortified, we headed out past the pool to the beach. Sunny - you ask sunny - well, it was sunny with a bunch of extra sunny - an absolutely beautiful day. We quickly fell into a great rhythm............catch some rays - swim in the Caribbean - catch some rays - swim in the pool...........well, you get the idea. Late morning refreshments at the in pool bar - Mojito! Then back for a long walk on the beach - and more time ... read more

Today we hit the road and headed west. A quick breakfast at La Patisserie de France and then onto the Rte. 22. Fortunately, we were headed out of San Juan, because they, like all of us, know how to do rush hour - big time! Now try to follow this...............speed limits are in mph, mileage markers are in kilometers, car odometers are in miles, and gas is sold by the liter (40.9/liter). Our first stop was in and around Isabela, a small town at the northwest corner of Puerto Rico. Known for its surfing beaches and beautiful plaza, our stop was indeed enjoyable. We walked around the plaza and, as we did in Cidra, watched the men play dominoes and truly appreciated the architecture and colors. We headed down 466 toward the beach area looking for ... read more

Ok, here we go.............we got a late start today - we are on vacation, you know! Nice breakfast at the inn and then the one block trip to the beach - tough duty, but we volunteered! Oh, did we mention that it was 84 and sunny today :-) Walked on the beach and in the water, sat and received our daily vitamin D dose and then changed and headed south. (dinner yesterday was at Bebo's cafe, delicious Puerto Rican food, mofongo and pork chunks, mofongo and chicken, rice and red beans, salad, and Medalla, - then a short walk back to the inn) Our first stop was the little town of Cidra. We discovered this beautiful place from the breakfast cook. She grew up in this town and mentioned it was on the way to one ... read more

Excellent weather - did we mention that it was 84 and sunny - oh, but we did get a brief shower in the rainforest - very refreshing..........ok, now with the news! First, to complete last night. We decided to eat at the inn and went down to the outside bar and had some beer while the bartender cooked our meal (yes, we had a cheeseburger - but had a great conversation about Puerto Rico). We headed east this morning - destination El Yunque, a rainforest, which is about 35 miles from here. As you enter El Yunque, which is The Carribean National Forest and part of the U.S. Parks Service, you are greeted at a beautiful, open air welcome center. The paths are lined with flowers and trees and the facility has no doors - completely ... read more

We arrived at Philly International in plenty of time to catch our "on-time", no weather delays, flight. We did get a de-icing before we left, felt like a cool morning shower...............as we took off for our 3 1/2 hour flight. We resisted the temptation to buy the 5-star food and instead brought our own. Our landing was 10 minutes early and that meant we had 1 hour before the EAGLES kickoff. We are on Atlantic Time so we are one hour ahead of East Coast time.............oh, did we mention that it was sunny and 84 when we landed. Took the bus to the rental car, headed to our "residence", At Wind Chimes Inn - Condado neighborhood, and put everything in the room. On went the TV and we watched the first part of the game, oh, ... read more
