Burger king to the rescue! Starbuck's wifi was down, KL's free wifi was down for maintenance and the nearby maccas doesn't have wifi. So here i sit in KLCC, a shopping complex beneath the Petronas Towers slowly eating a sundae after having Nasi Goreng for lunch. I tried to get one of the ~1600 free tickets to climb the skybridge but i got here too late. I knew they would be popular but didn't think they would go in the first 2 hours. Maybe i should've walked here instead of taking the scenic bus around town this morning. But i wanted to give my legs a rest after yesterday. How do describe this place? Ok so tonight I leave, well technically it's tomorrow morning. Everything is packed except for those few items I'll need between now and when I leave and the good news is my bag is underweight. And by underweight I mean significantly underweight. I've got heaps of space for souvenirs and malaysian shopping. Hehe This is the first time I've been overseas in six years. A lot has changed in that time. Last time I travelled there was no facebook, no skype, no smart phones, wireless internet was rare; communication relied on PCs, MSN and email. Today however most travellers take a laptop with them; both my brother and my dad have bought laptops ahead of their overseas trips. However I'm taking a different approach. Finally I am embarking on my trip to Europe. Ever since I finished school I planned on travelling to Europe at the end of university and now I'm there. So what am I planning? On the 18th August I depart Melbourne for Kuala Lumpur, a city that has always intrigued me, possibly since it hosted the 1998 Commonwealth Games and was also featured in the film Entrapment. I'll stay in Kuala Lumpur for two nights although what I'll do there I have yet to finalise. I hear the shopping is a highlight and obviously the Petronas Towers. I predict quite a culture shock as although I've been to China before, this will be the first time I'll be in a foreign third world country alone without being able to speak the language.
