Scotland!!!! Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Edinburgh
I can’t believe we only have another 3 weeks in Oxford, it seems like we just got here! Mitch and I have had the greatest last few months and just don’t want this to end. Back to reality? No thanks. Graduating from college? No thanks. Paying our own bills? Definitely NO thanks. This weekend was our last trip before our months traveling after school…Scotland! We had a wonderful little pre-trip scare when we realized that we had booked our bus too close to our planes departure…soooo we had to change it all and jump on an earlier bus which created a [View Full Entry]

Prague. Europe » Czech Republic
I wish I could say we had a smooth arrival into Prague but I really can’t. The city was absolutely blanked in fog, I had no idea that we were even close to the ground until the lights on our plane reflected off the runway pavement. It was an incredibly eerie and uncomfortable feeling. The pilot landed the plane on automatic mode which means a computer rather than a human landed us. When our wheels touched, we just bounced right back up again and continued to bounce until we finally coasted to a stop. It was a rough landing to say [View Full Entry]

Day Five: Hello, Santorini!!! We woke up again to that incredible breakfast and I seriously stuffed myself full of homemade Greek yogurt and fresh honey…its incrrrrredible!!! Mitch got his fill of everything there was to offer, and we were honestly pretty bummed to have to be leaving our little paradise right on the ocean. It was a beautiful day outside, no wind and sunny…I keep thinking it can’t get any prettier but it does…After breakfast, we packed up and headed down to the reception to check out. We found out that for the last 2 days we have been going [View Full Entry]

Day Three: Arrival into Naxos Six am wake up and off to the ferry port to head to the Greek Island of Naxos. It was about a ten minute walk through the dark, breezy streets but we got to the port in plenty of time before departure. The ferry is much bigger than we were expecting and we suddenly felt like hey we are going on a cruise (vivid flashbacks of the bliss we experienced on our luxury cruise to the Caribbean) but were quickly shut down when we the realized that we had economy class tickets which meant that we [View Full Entry]

Day One: Arrival into Athens Beep. Beep. Beep. The alarm goes off at 4:15 am and reality hits: Greece is here. All those months of planning, wishing, and excitement…about to be reality. It was pitch black outside, windy, and cold…a typical Oxford morning. Our backpacks were loaded up and we were ready to bike down to the stations. The road was wet and we were about half way there when all of a sudden Mitch throws on his brakes. “Oh Shit.” I knew it was bad. “Tara, I FORGOT my passport”. I am not going to write what I said but [View Full Entry]

This weekend was a bit spontaneous as a group of us decided to hop on a train and travel to Wales. Surprisingly, Wales is only a short hour and half train ride from Oxford which is over an hour closer than the Gatwick Airport that we usually fly out of. The trip was short and sweet and we got into Wales around noon. We had this awesome affordable Bed and Breakfast right on the water across from the huge rugby stadium. It was perfect. We got things started right away and dropped our bags off and headed to the infamous Cardiff [View Full Entry]

!!Amsterdam!! Europe » Netherlands
The City of Hookers, Sex, and really good cookies As you can tell, this blog is a bit late for reasons that you will soon find out. But for now… Amsterdam. Oh Amsterdam. We arrived into this wondrous city around ten o’clock at night on Thursday. We were welcomed with raindrops and dark clouds as we walked out of the airplane. The air was chilly and wet but we were all very excited so it really didn’t seem to matter. There were about six of us on the flight together, so we were feeding off each other’s excitement (we were [View Full Entry]

Day One: Arrival into Ireland We are starting to realize that over here in Europe, things just usually don’t go as planned, that’s just how it is. For instance, our flight with Ryan Air was supposed to depart around 5:30pm out of Gatwick Airport, so Mitch and I arrive about 2 hours before to compensate for traffic or anything of that sort. Check in went smoothly, but Ryan Air doesn’t give the actual gate number because they post it on the monitors about an hour before boarding. Naturally, Mitch and I decide to go through the shops to kill time. Well [View Full Entry]

Germans...Beer...Prost! Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
Day One: Arrival into Munich Thursday morning came oh so early…I can’t say that I was ready to ride my bike from Logan House to the bust station at 6:30 in the morning. My backpack is enormous and it weighed a ton…driving in the bike lane, in the dark, half delirious, with a small elephant on your back is not the ideal way to start the morning. However, we managed and made it to Heathrow after a grueling 3-4 hour journey involving buses and the underground. I felt like we could have walked to Munich by the time we had gotten [View Full Entry]

As of Recently... Europe » United Kingdom » England
It is quite difficult to a keep an up-to-date journal of our time here. I came to that conclusion over the last 7 days as I keep finding myself too exhausted or just too busy to sit down at the computer for a few hours and upload pictures and document the days. However, the bottom line being: this last week has been just amazing, we have traveled to London again, gone to Stonehenge, Bath, had our formal dinner at an Oxford University, and so much more mixed in between. London It is quite a feat juggling schoolwork and all the many [View Full Entry]
